My parents are in the direct path and would not drive the ~10 hrs northward to stay with my family! I am livid and worried and powerless. All I can do is hope that the house isn't compromised in the 115 mph expected winds. :bang:

Apparently my friends mother/father in law are driving back down right now... smart.

    Be careful everyone out there.

My aunts and cousins are in the Orlando metro area and they're hunkering down instead of fleeing.

It's swinging by VA and will be rough, but the more southern states are getting hit more directly.

It is not, thankfully. We don't get much in the way of extreme weather here in Reno.

I'm amazed at the number of people who are basically sitting on a bullseye in this storm and still aren't evacuating. Then again this message didn't convince thousands of people to flee New Orleans as Katrina was bearing down, and they ended up drowning in their attics:

Luckily nope and I don't personally know anybody down there but I hope everyone stays safe and that not an insane amount of damage happens.

I am in the middle of the storm right this second. Though I live in Ohio, my mom lives in South Carolina, near Myrtle Beach, and wanted me to come down and help her prepare her house for the storm. She said if the storm was Category 2 or less we would ride it out, any thing higher we would leave. We stayed in place and there is no damage to her house so far and from what we can see from the house, there is no significant damage to any house in the neighborhood. The lights have been flickering for the past few hours, but the lights are still on, thankfully.

I posted this else where but here is our damage so far.

4 trees down in our backyard. The 2nd landed right outside the door, the third feel on the 2nd an hour later and the canopy of it is resting on our roof and outdoor ac unit.
The power for the whole area is out. All our food has spoiled and the milk is bad. We have a stockpile of water and soda, but only have candy to munch on. The store my brother works out closed and so did the Wendy's my other brother works out.
Several streets are flooded, washed out, or blocked by trees.

The wind is still kicking and we are watching 2 trees that have the potential to go through our bedrooms.

The hurricane has passed us and our power came back on seconds ago.

No. I live in the middle part of Alabama. We aren't getting a single drop from Matthew. The hurricane after Matthew might hit the Gulf and we might get some of that.

We just learned that there is no power to the whole county.
