He lives up in Lake Tahoe where that huge fire is currently burning. It first started a few miles from his house. He was telling me about it Sunday and yesterday. I guess a lot of his friends houses have been lost, but it seemed like the fire was staying away from his house. Just a few hours ago however he was put under a voluntary evacuation order as the fire had jumped the highway and begun heading towards his neighborhood, and then shortly after he was put under a mandatory evacuation. Just now I heard on the news that they're evacuating Tahoe Keys, which is much further back than his neighborhood. The only thing between Tahoe Keys and the fire is my friend's neighborhood... I have a bad feeling his house is gone. Right he's staying at a hotel a few miles away and has no idea if his house is there or not.
Let's all hope that he's ok. It's worth remembering that, although a house is important, it's just a thing, and things can be replaced...
That's so true. I'm just glad he's safely evacuated and as an extra bonus had lots of time to pack his important things. He began packing 2 days ago when the fire first broke out, so his car is filled to the brim with his important belongings. Though nothing is worth the price of a life.
Nothing is worth more than life. Good to hear that he had some time to pack and bring them to his hotel. Maybe some people didn't even have time to do packing but run away from fire. Glad to hear he evacuated already. Let's hope everything will work out well for him and everyone who is in same situation:eusa_pray
Yay good news! He was allowed to go back into his neighborhood and check on his house today. His house made it! Unfortunately, over half of his neighbors lost their houses. Apparently the fire passed through his street very quickly and the firefighters couldn't stop it from getting many of the homes. Still, his house is ok! I'm just so happy for him now!
Yay for the fire not attacking and eating his house!! yumyum. >>;; But most importantly YAY HE'S ALIVE!
I heard that the fire was caused by someone lighting and illegal fire in the area where it all started. I've been in the fire in San Bernardino is 2003 and that was terrible, people lost a lot of homes and only like one person died.
