Does anyone use it? What do you think about it? Would you recommend it? Are the videos good quality? What about the website?
I used when I was in the first year of university, mostly for matrix algebra. The videos are clear and pretty helpful in my opinion. =]
I used Khan Academy. Several people I know use it; it's a helpful tool in many aspects of education. I, and several other people, highly recommend it.
I like practicing math on it. The videos are pretty bad imo, because they're not edited and are unnecessarily long.
In my opinion, I do agree they are long but to another, it might be the right length. Some people prefer every step being worked out, which is how a good understanding of mathematics is fostered. By working out every step, they are striving to work toward their mission statement 'a free world-class education for anyone anywhere.' To that end, I would argue that their videos are the perfect length. And going back to their mission statement, the videos are made to cater toward those who would like a holistic review, those who would like to check their work, and those who are learning a concept for the first time.
Personally, I find the easier parts long and overly drawn out, and then he magically skips a step and completely confused me. For math, I swear by PatrickJMT.
Depends son the subject. Some of the older content on the site aren't the best but newer content is definitely good. I think it's good for subjects that aren't taught well elsewhere (duolingo, and codecadmy might be better for learning a language or programming skills)
I think he oversimplifies things and I often go "Oh my God I get it! Go on already!" but I'd rather he over-explains than under-explains and make me go "What?". I haven't use him in a long time.
I used to use it for high school math, I remember it being pretty effective and fun. I haven't used it in a while but I did like it.
I personally hate khan academy videos on YouTube. It's nothing against their content or concept or the founder (all of which I love). It's just that I find it so incredibly hard to concentrate during their videos. The black background makes me sleepy, as does the speed at which they go through the concepts. There's no person on the screen to interact with, and insteas I have handwriting to look at, which is so disengaging. Maybe there are different videos from khan acad that don't do those things, but I've never found them. So I've basically never used khan academy. I much prefer college lectures.
The videos are really good. I have done almost all my statistics and differential equation course from there.
You can use it if you want. I tried to practice math on it, but it confused and bored me. I had an easier time learning from the Math antics website, although it's really only dedicated toward high school math and lower. I am pretty dumb in math and can barely do anything above basic stuff, so that helped me.
It's not the most efficient way to study... There is great content and they explain concepts pretty well, though. I guess it depends on your intentions. If you're using it to help you in a subject at school, you're gonna have to dig through a lot of irrelevant information to get to the topic you need. It's not that high yield in that respect. If you just want to learn a topic for fun, it may be a good tool. As an example, for a general exam I used it to try to brush up on psychology and sociology.... I didn't need a 10 minute video on feminism theory for this exam... Lots of irrelevant stuff for a few useful tidbits.
I've used it before for things in high school. It seems like a helpful tool but it just wasn't for me.
