I've just recently accepted my sexual orientation and begun to technically consider myself a lesbian. The weird thing is, though, is that I'm not the only one in my relatively small family. My mom is bisexual and my aunt (her sister) has been out as a lesbian for years now. My mom's convinced there's some genetic link, but I don't really see how that's possible.

It just got me wondering: how many of you guys have relatives who aren't straight, too? I'm just curious. It seems like a strange coincidence. I mean, it's not uncommon or anything, but it's strange that there are three of us in such a small family who are like this. How about you guys?

Nothing confirmed, although there are rumours about my aunt, who's 40-something and from what I know hasn't had a relationship with a man in a very long time. I think that's mostly to do with the fact that she hates most people and is a bitch, though.

Nobody in my family is in any way queer. Which is a pity, because it makes it more awkward for me to come out to them.

My dad is gay, and we are all pretty sure my uncle is (from my moms side) and I have a gay aunt from my step dad's side but I suppose that wouldn't count in genetic talk. So yeah

My lovely cousin on my mom's side, Elesbian42 is engaged to her girlfriend!

That's all I know of officially but there could be others I don't know about.

Oh and I have a sister who's bi.

erm, nothing in my family that we know of. though we think my mum and step-dad's sister-in-law's brother might be in a relationship with a guy, but that's way too much of a distant uncertain link.
but for all I know some of my family could be, we're not very close at all.

Yup,there's a few in my family! First,there's yours truly! And...I have 3 cousins who are all lesbian,all on my mom's side.
I had the distinct honor of being the first to come out. Maybe that helped the others(?).
I do believe there may be a genetic link. While some people don't know if there are other gays in their family,there could be(or could have been) and they may not know about it.
Science is working on it and I'm sure there will be answers,someday.
