How many people have/had "friendsgiving" celebrations?

Some friends and I just had ours, and it's been the best, most congenial gathering we've had in a long time!

So I'm curious: do you have friendsgiving parties? Are they preferable to family Thanksgiving for you? Do you go to both?

I love friendsgiving! Went I was 17 I tried soy sauce on rice for the first time at friendsgiving. Before then the only rice I'd ever ate was minute rice, rice cookers are amazing. That is still my favorite thanksgiving meal ever.

I have a friend of mine who host a refugee thanksgiving. It's a gathering for those who don't get along with their families or don't have a family to celebrate with.

In Canada, there were a couple times my sister and I did "Thanksgiving" alone. Our family has a big dinner, but my dad goes hunting that weekend every year so if we didn't have a ride we'd just order pizza and watch a movie. Either way is awesome.

I had my first actual "Friendsgiving" this year. It was so amazingly delicious. Basically everyone there were expats, so there were a lot of different cultural traditions and food. So great.
