Some love it, and some dread it, but either way, Thanksgiving is here! What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year? Does the holiday represent anything for you?

I'm not doing anything too special this year. I'll be working on homework, playing piano, composing a few piano pieces I'll be submitting for competitions, going to my brother's friend's house for dinner, working on a science fair project with my partner, cooking some dish with extremely hot peppers, possibly filming a video for YouTube, and possibly setting up a Christmas tree and other decorations. :icon_bigg

How do I have the time to do all this? It's Thanksgiving Break in my school district for a week.

Nothing special, just playing pokemon for a brain-melting amount of hours and eating dinner with my family at my aunt/uncle/cousin's house.

Baking a small ham, homemade mashed potatoes, corn, and apple pie. Watching the Vikings play Detroit....

Probably won't do anything except survive the day...

    Like usual, I'll be alone.

As I told my therapist yesterday, at times I feel like the biggest loser because I'm alone on Thanksgiving, a holiday when it's seemingly more likely for people to invite people who are alone like me.

I could, I suppose, make an effort to do something...but I don't have the energy or enthusiasm since it's just me.

On the plus side, though, at least this way I'm spared witnessing (or even participating in) arguments about this year's election.

Have a nice dinner with my family. I will be cooking lamb chops. We might discuss politics ... actually not dreading it at all, I'm hoping for it. I've taken a much greater interest in the affairs of our nation and its relation to the world lately.
I wonder how many people out there suddenly started doing research 24/7 because of how crazy this recent election was.

My mom and I elected to skip the family dinner and have our own Thanksgiving, just the two of us. In other words, I'm going to get some things done and then lay around watching Netflix. My girlfriend is overseas so once she wakes up we're going to have a virtual Thanksgiving.

I'll be spending it at home by myself. I get the day off from work but I'm in a new town alone. My family doesn't really celebrate it because quite a few of them have jobs they don't get off. And since I still have to work Friday, it isn't really worth the drive out of town to go visit and then drive all the way back in the evening anyway.

All week I felt okay with just 'having a day off to myself', but now this morning I'm up and all my friends are off to see their families and I admit I'm feeling kind of down...the move to the new town has been pretty lonely anyway, so spending the day in a big empty house is a little disheartening.

To all of you who ARE celebrating: Happy Thanksgiving!

Staying at home, and we won't be having any visitors. I made a Boston Cream Pie last night and I'm looking forward to that.

There are plusses to only living about a 20 minute drive away from where I grew up. I'll be heading home later today to join my immediate family (my brother has flown in from North Carolina) and my grandparents for an excellent Thanksgiving dinner. We may also visit our vacation home this weekend depending on who is up for it (should be snowy there); I at least do not have to go back to work/school until Monday.

Headed out to dinner with friends. We have a particular restaurant that we usually go to on Christmas day but as we will be out of the country for Christmas we're going to have our traditional Christmas dinner as Thanksgiving.
