I had a dream about a few weeks ago and I woke up the next morning and I remembered it. So I started writing about the dream. Then I decided to add some more details. Now I have a short story. Is this weird? It's like a romantic crazy short story.
I've written at least two stories based on dreams I've had. One of them was a short story that I ended up turning in for a class, and the other was a much longer story that I never finished, but it was fun to work on for a while.
Dreams are a pretty solid way to get ideas if they're interesting enough. The things the subconscious can come up with is fascinating.
It's not weird at all, it's brilliant. I wrote my first (mini) novel that way. I've since expanded into larger projects, i.e. 600 page long books. Who knows where that short story of yours could take you.
Yes I love writing about dreams. I don't get vivid dreams as much as I used too. I actually made an OC from a dream a long time ago. He's still a treasured character of mine.
Nope. I think it's cool that you've been inspired by your dreams! I write horror stories and I get a lot of ideas from my dreams, my hallucinations, and the 'dark' side of life Of course it's not always interesting/useful to me. A few days ago my auditory hallucinations were talking about boat transmission settings
That's not weird at all, I wish I could do that! I don't usually remember my dreams, but I'd be willing to bet I'd write stories from them, too.
Dream inspired writings and ideas are always interesting because they are free from everyday inhibitions. On another note, Sir Paul McCartney wrote Yesterday after a dream.
