The obsessive compulsive in me wants to know why the letters are ordered as they are (sometimes I also see GLBT). To me it looks like the poor B and T people were tacked on as an afterthought. Why not make it alphabetical: BGLT. Or reverse alphabetical order: TLGB. That way you can't be seen as trying to add significance to the order of the letters.

I think its because it rolls off the tongue better as LGBT :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

In all honesty, i dont think it matters too much. It changes so much! Its currently offically

    LGBTQ

if im correct. They added "Queer" to the end for anyone who does not feel they fit in one of the other four categories o_o

I guess it goes the same way it works when you say Man and Wife or Men and Women. as opposed to Women and Men. I just think its the way our language is, or just past precedents it just feels easier to say.

Some LGBT media does make it seem that this is the case, unfortunately.

    Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT

To address that all I'll do is quote the wikipedia article:

  7. Because obviously lesbians are supreme and thus get placed first in the anagram.

LGBT is for fools. A friend of mine uses GBLTQQ. His justification is as follows:

    Gee!...BLT sandwich...Queer/Questioning.

    I think it works.

My slight OCD would prefer it to be BGLT as well.

Perhaps everybody should just use the term with their own classification in the first position. That way there's less possibility of prejudice.

All that matters is that the T goes at the end so we can have "LGBTastic"

There's a severe deficiency of vowels. Perhaps we should stick A for ally in there, so it's pronounceable, then rearrange some of the letters,
    GLABTastic

I was listening to a speaker who is part of the LGBT department at the local university and she touched on that. She said in the 80s it started to switch from GLBT to LGBT to promote more gender equality.

Basically, to rid the 80s of the obvious sexism.

Isn't that sexism in just another form of sexism? like. I feel like its the same way with racism, that they try to erase racism but only add to it with like, a different kind. you know what i mean? I personally don't care how it is said. I just noticed that.
