I'm going to church for the first time since I was kicked out 6 years ago for being gay.
I'm terrifyed that someone will recognize me, even though this is a new church...
    Wish me luck!

And if somebody DOES recognize you?

I doubt a church that would kick you out for being gay is a church that you want to attend, anyway...

Might I ask...why? Is it a forced family Easter visit or something?

Maybe she wants religion in her life.
Maybe she's not okay with rejecting all ideas of something bigger than ourselves.
Maybe she's different then the majority of the LGBT population and ISN'T atheist.
Besides, why is the reason important? What's important is that she's trying and she needs support rather than questions.

    And to the poster...
Good luck and more power to you!

I'm really envious of anyone that can put so much faith in something that isn't tangible.

And remember, if there is a God, he won't deny you. God made all of us in his own image. That means he's a little bit lesbian, too.

If it's a different church I wouldn't worry about it.

I went to my parent's (Catholic) church today and all went well. People are too focused on Easter to gay bash.

    I agree with Tyler.

Good luck! I hope it all goes well/went well.

And besides, being gay isn't unaccepted at all churches. On the back of the bullitens at my church say say "[Name] United Methodist Church is a welcoming congregation. We welcome all people, reguardless of age, sex, race, color, ethnicity, sexual orentation, economic status, or ability into the full life of this congregation."

I,too, wish you good luck. I know all about the horror stories associated with religion.
Just enjoy yourself and don't worry so much. God loves us ALL!

If it's a church that is welcoming of all people then you have nothing to fear.

If it's a church that subscribes to the whole idea of Homosexuality being wrong and a sin then it seems a little daft going to this particular church. I'm not against all religion and I understand the original poster is asking for good luck.. I freely give it

Just don't get roped into supporting a close minded, bigoted church as that does no one any good in the long run

Good for you, OP, seriously Good for you. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, I personally wish I went to church more often. It's your choice to believe in what you want to believe in and do what you want to do. Be Proud of yourself for at least doing SOMETHING right today, unlike me who apparently gets bricks thrown at multiple times (metaphor). I really Hope you have a good day. (*hug*) Happy Easter!

Absolutely - a church which kicks you out for how God made you isn't even a church.
