    Many of us around here have been through a lot in our lives, often to the point that we were driven dangerously close to the edge. And yet here we are, despite everything. There is a reason for that, there is something that is keeping us going.

    I know that there are several people here in EC who still are struggling or have been recently, and I hope this thread can help you and anybody else going through hard times. Perhaps this thread can cheer you up, or remind you of why life is worth living. And to everyone else, this thread can be a place to express what you appreciate about the world and your life. Here you can share what got you through those hard times, whether it was something small and seemingly trivial, or deep and personal. Ultimately, any reason to live is a good reason to live.

    So feel free to post anything that makes you happy, or keeps you going if only for a little longer. Who knows, maybe somebody can really benefit from this thread someday.



    I'll start. One thing that keeps me going is my friends, and the good experiences that I share with them. I suppose another is gaming: that feeling when you find a really good game is priceless.

    I'm pessimistic, but one thing that keeps me going are the artists I look up to. They've been nothing but kind to me, and I know if they can overcome the shittiest things life can throw at them, I can too. Plus, nothing would make me happier than knowing they saw something I made and liked it. Honestly, next to music, it's the only thing keeping me going.

    *FYI I am struggling myself...*

    The reason you do is remember when in teenager years or kids days you felt all is over when something went wrong? While it wasnt? If only you could tell kid you "dont get so worked up about things!". There is an older you telling yourself those things. Hang on, break away, do something else, go crazy, buy a plane ticket, train ticket, do something.

    The reach out message is not always helping is it? If you are a in a dark place, reach out ? But how ? You can reach out, but u can also just do something new...if u dont like it and want to return to your old thing. Maybe you gained a bit of hope.

    Spend a bit of money....

    Just forget about the consequences.

    But stay alive, you might safe a puppies life..or a pecan pie that almost fell of the table. We need you...

    Listening to your fave music and zoning out
    Writing a nice short story/poem
    When strangers smile at you/acknowledge you
    Making a difference in someone's life
    Being productive and busy - this always keeps me going
    Having small goals, short-term has really helped me through life. I always make little lists of things I want to achieve within the next week and ticking them off gives me so much satisfaction :slight_smile:

    uhhhhh....i honestly struggled with this one, lets see....no friends.....no love life, parents that pretty much dont give an F what i say or how i feel...


    uhhh..... does wanting to play sombra in overwatch more count? (is that sad?)

    or the other video games ive got. id miss all those if i died. plus it'd be a pain to have to search them all and re acquire them in the afterlife....if i could even do that

    Are you fucking kidding me? I grew up in such a house of unhappiness that I used to want to be able to drown myself in the tub before I even have any other memories. Life sucks.. A fucking LOT. You gather yourself together and keep going. Sometimes it gets better.

    I continue on despite it all. The hate from my parents, the ecouragement of my friends and reassurance that life goes on. Most importantly, I continue to go on after losing the love of my life yesterday. To not go on despite his death, would be the ultimate betrayal to his memory.

    I have only one reason I don't kill myself. My best friend who I have known my whole life. She suffers from many of the same mental illnesses as me. We are basically non-romantic soulmates. If I were to kill myself she wouldn't be able to take it. She is my only real friend, and the only person I truly love. I wouldn't want to make her life any more miserable.
