Typical batty cat-lady, spinster, dumpy, ditzy, mad hair, that's what everyone thought. Looks like a cross between Miriam Margolyes, and the mental alcoholic great aunt everyone has with a million cats who kills everyone with the karaoke.

Turns out we're a bit too quick to judge.

Note; 4:03, Simon looks like he's in love.

I could listen to her all day.

I have to hold my hands up and say "Yeah, I thought she was going to be crap".

I have never been so glad to be wrong before. She is genuine talent.

I was completely blown away when I got linked the youtube clip earlier today.

I distinctly remember saying to the person who linked me "THAT CANNOT ACTUALLY BE HER VOICE"

But it was  Absolutely beautiful, and I'm glad she's finally been discovered :3

Yes i must admit when she came on i thought 'this is gonna be funny'. Then she started singing and boy i thought wow!! It was amazing, and just goes to show about judging people on appearences! She may not look like your average pop star but theres nothing average about that voice!

    Erm..
I feel quite bad, but I really didn't find anything THAT amazing about her voice. Yes, it was nice, but I can't help feeling that it's all being blown out of proportion because she's not the type of person you'd expect to be able to sing well.
    I don't know.. maybe it's just me.

What I love about Britain's got Talent is that it finds those random little people like Paul Potts and Susan Boyle who otherwise would've been completely unknown, and would've died having never truly lived their dreams. It's not like X Factor would ever have taken them.

I was physically cringing when she was flirting with Simon and said she wanted to be like Elaine Paige, boy was that the biggest wake up call ever!

It seemed like she had a nice voice, when I could hear it. But god is that show over-produced. In between the encouraged applause, the inane comments by those two guys behind the curtain, the continual focus on the adoring judges, I could barely make out her performance. Fuck just everyone be quiet and let me hear her sing. /rant off

Well, the inane guys are pretty much hired to be inane, and the adoring judges aren't usually quite so adoring haha!

^ Understood. But I'm really happy that a show like American Idol is live because they can't get the performances into an editor's hands to screw it up.

But it wasn't that I didnt like her performance. I was complaining whining that I couldn't hear her. This group - they are great, but it's the same thing, even worse. Simon's masturbatory adulation, excessive fan-girl applause, idiot curtain guys. It's just overall sickeningly over-produced for TV.

Oh, and apparently it goes live later. The audition was filmed in advance because of Simon Cowell's apparently mental schedule, and I guess also it'd give people time to prepare for the actual going properly live thing, rather than just suddenly discovering "Oh my god, I'm through," and just getting thrown straight into it.

yeah, we're too quick to judge. I guess that's one point, maybe she doesn't have "the image" for the music industry, but she'll still make truckloads after her exposure to the world on this show, I just hope it lasts a little longer than 15 seconds
