What would be a good drink that will keep me awake throughout the afternoon?

    On Tuesdays, I have a class from 12-2 pm, then I have another class from 2-3 pm, and my last class is from 3:30-4:50 pm. I usually start sleeping in the last class. So what I'm wondering what are some suggestions.

    Coffee or some kind of energy drink might be good. Why do you usually start sleeping at 4pm?

    Coffee.

    It might not work with everyone. I don't like coffee as an example, so I drink water or something sweet (not the best choice I know :wink: )

    I suggest tea or coffee. Or maybe a soda. Maybe.

    I can't vouch for energy drinks, since I can't drink them, but they work for some people. I also suggest that if you're allowed to bring a little snack to class to do so. Food also gives energy and is a pretty good distraction for yourself to keep awake. I fell asleep in class a lot, and a lot of times it was because I was super hungry ^^;

    What time do you turn out the lights and go to sleep? Do you have your electronic devices at bedside? If you are getting enough uninterrupted sleep and still have this problem, you really ought to consult with a doctor and preferably one who has specialised training in sleep disorders. There is a ton of info on the interweb, I would suggest you start here:

    It's not uncommon for people to get tired in the later afternoon or early evening and want to take a nap. Remember, everyone's circadian rhythm is different even if most people have to ignore it due to "life".

    Keep drinking water throughout the day, since if you're hydrated you're less likely to feel tired. I also find that carbonated drinks can help because of the bubbles, and I know people who swear by Green tea.

    If you drink a diet coke or red bull between classes (or a full sugar one if the sugar helps you,) then you should start feeling the effects of the caffeine about 20 minutes later. Same for coffee. You should also make sure you're eating enough through the day, since being hungry could be contributing to your lack of energy in the afternoon.

    Coffee helps, but after the effect runs off it leaves you completely destroyed. But it's the only drink I've tested so far, and it's really helped me stay awake at work from 2pm to 7pm.

    If it's not a drink you're looking for, try sugary foods.

    I don't like energy drinks like redbull, so the thing that keeps me awake is just a simple water with squeezed lemon (someone also adds honey). I like it a lot and it's basically the main thing I drink during the day. It's cheap and easy to make, it's healthy, it gives you a lot of energy and it's also tasty (but not for everyone I guess). Every morning before going to school, I just drink a glass of it, fill 1 or 2 bottles and I'm ready to go :grin:
