Do less homophobic societies take gay people less seriously?

    This could just be me, but it seems like living in a less homophobic area makes people more likely to think I'm just saying I'm gay because it's trendy. Or they're more likely to think it's a phase or I'm actually bisexual. Instead of people thinking I'm a gross dyke like they would in a more homophobic place.

    Hmm. I can kinda see where you're coming from, but I don't think so. I think they're just more educated on the topic.
