This is all an act it was done by John Clarke, who played Senator Bob Collins, and Bryan Dawe, the interviewer. Clarke and Dawe did this as part of their A Current Affair spoof segement. However the event is real and it happened on July 21st 1991.

Clarke plays Senator Bob Collins, 1946-2007, member of the Australian Senate and the Minister of Shipping. He is an embarrassment. He commited suicide 3 days before he went to court for child pornograhpy, indecent assault, carnal knowledge and sexual intercourse without consent.

Ahh, that makes sense. I could tell it was fake - it reminded me of a few sketch shows I love - but I couldn't find out who did it.

We've watched that in my physics class a few times. Everyone seemed reluctant to believe me when I said it was fake.

Well you can tell them that it is fake, because I happen to know John Clarke personally. John and Senator Collins look nothing alike, considering that Collins was slightly overweight and John is as skinny as a twig. Collins had hair and John did not.

I did a google image search for Bob Collins and he's NOTHING like the guy who plays him, so I'll second that even though I don't know the guy. Cool that you know him though ahaha!

    By the way... slightly overweight?

Yeh - Clarke and Dawe have been doing their political parodies for years. Very clever stuff.

The funniest part about it was that they never ever went bad, they remained consistant.
