Age: 21 Posts: 168 Join Date: Jul 2008 | The sun shines, the sky is blue. Fields are green and butterflies flutter by. Children skip merrily away from school knowing that their freedom has come. In short, it's summer. And that means it's time for Mark's Official Summer Writing Project! Essentially, every summer I come up with something I'd like to write about. Maybe an article from a local paper, maybe a short poem. Last year I tried writing a book, and that was a new and quite amazing experience. I think I'd like to do it again. I think I will... ...Or I would do, If I knew what to write about. So ladies, fellas and those that don't restrict themselves to such terminology; your ideas please. Anything that you think would make a good story, novel or book. Give me inspiration, and I'll write it down. Anything goes. So...Ideas plox.

Right, I have to say, reading your blogs and stuff (which are excellent, you have an amazing way with words) I'm kinda guessing here that I know your style, which is a pure assumption from me, and assuming is a very bad thing to do, but I digress. You should do something completely out there, like time travelling pies or llamas that try to take over the world. Write a story about something that you would never ever usually do. I'm taking this from a personal point of view as I like to try it when I have chronic writer's block. Normally my attempts come out as complete drivel, but they're a lot of fun to do and broaden my ability (or what I have of it ).Or try to think of the silliest idea imaginable, I'll give an example: a refrigerator that can feel love, and make it work in a novel. It then makes you think "how the fuck do I do that?" and you find a way to make it work. ![]()

Seemingly out of nowhere, a woman comes onto the stage and cooks the perfect potato salad. The audience are stunned. BUT... she's actually a genetically modified tomato intent on taking over the culinary world so she can seduce Nigella Lawson. Just a misunderstood super intelligent tomato. ![]() |

The first part'll have 555 words, the second'll have 777, then the third'll have 555. :P I'm in the same boat, though, I need ideas for the upcoming NaNoWriMo this year (even though that's in, you know, November, and it's only, you know, June, but still). Hmm... Write something Mary-Sue. Insert yourself into your dream existence, throw in some conflict, and watch it all unravel. Or do a Hero's Journey. Or both. Do something philosophical where you can learn about yourself through the process. Maybe something Alice-in-Wonderlandy. Base characters on people you know in real life so it's easier to kill 'em off. :'D I believe in you!

| Guest Posts: n/a | Write something beautiful about nature. Or go onto the public transit and find interesting people. Get about a dozen or so possible candidates, then go home and whitttle it down to however many you're comfortable with. Try to think of a story behind them. What is their life story? Their personality? How are they connected? Just something I do once in a while when I'm fresh out of ideas. Good luck! |
