She's obviously resigning to concentrate on a Presidential run in 2012. Why else would she leave?

Edit: it's also a great idea because then she won't be in public office for a few years where she could make countless moronic mistakes.

Good lord...Could she have rambled on any more in her resignation speech? Gave me a headache.

She is clearly aiming for a run for president in 2012. Still, it's a strange move to resign before her term is up. A couple possible reasons:

1) For the reasons explained in her speech, she thinks this is a good publicity stunt.
2) Her approval ratings are plunging now that gas prices are down and she can't afford to bribe Alaskans with a check from the state. She was down to 54% approval in May, while her high was 93% in 2007.
3) She wants to get a really early start on her 2012 campaign.

There's no way that she could win in 2012. Few liked her, and even more dislike her now. It seems like she just got tired of running Alaska, so she resigned.

Yep. This kills what chance she had at winning it. Quitting half-way through her term won't sit well with a lot of people.
