I always heard it as "waggely".

According to Wikipedia:
Quote:
In the movie Breakfast on Pluto (film) the lyrics are discussed implying some controversy between the use of the word "waggitty" or "waggley" between the characters. In spite of their fictional conclusion that it is "Waggitty", The correct answer is "Waggelly" [3], "waggitty" likely being a UK or Irish idiom where the film takes place.

Let's ask Patti Page, who took the song to #1 back in 1953.

+ YouTube Video

Sounds like "waggelly" to me. Although I've never understood that line. Don't pretty much ALL dogs have "waggelly" tails? It's like saying "How much is that doggie in the window? The one with the fur?"

I think this is missing the point. Is it really likely that only one dog in the window is wagging its tail? And couldn't you just say "the one whose tail is wagging"? Actually, wouldn't it be more consistent to name the breed? Of course you could just approach the window and point to it...

Waggedy.

In the video, she does in fact indicate the dog (if not exactly point to it). And take note of the fact that this dog's tail isn't wagging in the slightest at the start of the video.

Waggedy.
If so, then what is a "waggedy" tail?

It's "raggedy", as pronounced by Elmer Fudd. As in "That wascally wabbit has a waggedy tail. Huh huh huh huh huh..."

I can quite truthfully say "lol", because that made me laugh out loud.
