It edits your picture, dear. The process of "Photoshopping" involves the use of the program Photoshop.

Now that that's been taken care of, I must say that it's an awesome site. (y)

Your one of those people who always has to correct someone who says they need a band-aid or a kleenex im sure

Popular brands and such can become nouns or verbs in themselves, just accept it. Photoshop is a term thats applied to most forms of editing a photo, no matter the program.

I will not accept Photoshop becoming a verb for anything.
"To Photoshop" - To edit a picture using PHOTOSHOP.
"To Google" - To search on the internet using GOOGLE.
"To Facebook" - To socialise on FACEBOOK.

I know I'm anal retentive with these types of things, but some of us have to be.

For example, a family friend needed help to setup their iPod so over the phone I was explaining to them how to set it up with iTunes. While they were downloading iTunes, I asked what type of iPod they got. They said it was a Sony Walkman. They thought anything which plays music through headphones must be an iPod.
-_- Situations like this happen thanks to products and brands being used in the wrong context. Do you know how annoyed I was that I had to explain to him everything on how to setup an 'iPod' in about an hour when had he said "I need help setting up my new Walkman" I could've explained it to them in under five minutes because you plug it in, open it in Windows Explorer/Finder/etc and just copy and paste what music you want on.
>__<
And I know no one who says they need a Kleenex.. Everyone says 'tissue'.

Also, this belongs in Entertainment and Technology does it not?

I say vaseline because I buy vaseline.

What I'm bitching about is using brand names on DIFFERENT PRODUCTS.

A Zune is not an iPod.
A Sorbent Tissue is not a Kleenex Tissue.
So on so forth.

You dont have to agree with someone saying "photoshop" to mean digitally editing a photo, but its a super common thing to say in this day and age and im afraid correcting someone over it wont change the way people use it

You know what else is a common thing to say in this day and age? "Gay" to mean stupid. So I don't think that this argument is valid. But we're getting off topic. And I'm on the cover of Vogue magazine!

Is this your bloody catchphrase? You should put it in your signature, just to save you typing it every time... You do realise that everything involves technology, right? As a final year computer scientist, I know enough about technology to know that chit chat would be pretty damn boring if any reference to technology banned a thread from being here.

What this thread contains, like virtually every other thread you say this about, is Chit Chat about Entertainment & Technology. Hence, either would be right. Even in it's most literal sense, I think E&T is best used primarily for things like questions about computers, or big threads discussing specific TV shows purely for fans of it.

Well this is a thread about a WEBSITE which involves PHOTO EDITING.

A thread which had some aspects of it discussing technology, yeah, keep in Chit Chat, but the whole basis of this thread is under Technology.
