I was hanging out at a friends house and their grandpa was there. A little 2 year old boy was running around playing, and the grandpa picked him up. The lil guy went to kiss him on the cheek and the grandpa said "No, we do not kiss boys!"

I kind of dropped my mouth and was actually offended, not that a 2 year old has any kind of sexuality, but... I dunno I was offended lol.. like this old man was brainwashing the poor child.

I also totally had some kind of deja vu of being told that by someone when I myself was little..

lol for carrie. and some grandparents can be like that unfortunatly.. well, a majority i find. i'm sure there a lots of perfectly accepting grandparents but it's just what they've grown up with and learnt to not accept which is just silly in my opinion.

yeah, my dad tells me not to kiss boys.. but i did unfortunatly a while back (stoopid thing to do) and i feel much better now for batting on the other team, i love ma daddy.(*hug*)

well, whenever we meet anyone out of school, we kiss three times on alternating cheeks,
I`ve always thought it was the standard (at least one of the standard ways) of greeting people

so I don`t see where people will go in society without even the most basic greeting of kissing really

to think i`ve been taught by my grandparents to kiss people you meet ... ... ...

There are techniques! You totally can. It takes some practice/finesse, or there are also some disposable, shall we say, assistants, that one can use.

... Yes, I have done research on this. Public restrooms are nasty. >:/

It does seem a little sad telling kids that young who they can't kiss, though I probably would say something along the lines of, "Don't go kissing them! You don't know where they've been!"

Because, well, you don't, do you? Kids are germ factories at the best of times, man.

Kiss? I was taught that you couldn't hug another boy. Thankfully, I don't follow either rules. (*hug*)

Regardless of the generation he's from, I think it's wrong to tell a 2 year old that. The kid's playing around and doesn't know anything. Don't start brainwashing at this early of an age.

Thanks for the laugh. OMG,I needed one! I always say my mom warned me about the boys, but never warned me about the girls!

  14. I guess i'm looking at this a little differently. How about the grandpa not letting his grandson give him a kiss? I mean I was a little more thrown off by that than the comment itself.

Damn! I forgot the point of this thread!
The Grandfather is how he was raised.
But,I feel bad for the two year old,it must have confused him.
I get the grandfather may have been uncomfortable, but you don't say
    things like that,to a baby.

it's funny my Grandpa was tough man, but he always said: "Don't ever be embarrassed to show the people you love how you feel."

He and I cheek kissed all the time.

Its a real shame what that did if you ask me.
