hey everybody!

i was just flipping thru the channels and i saw a preview for the tyra show that will be on tomorrow, and i thought that some people might be interested in it. its about a boy who's family hired and exorcist to "get rid of the gay". obviously that is not possible...
any way for those of you that would like to watch it it will be on tomorrow.

Hmmm, that looks interesting. I may have to abandon my usual TV schedule and check it out. Tyra seems to do lots of shows dealing with LGBT topics, I don't always agree with everything on her show, but I do like how she is at least talking about things like that.

Is it going to be debunking the myth that you can exorcise the gay demon inside of you? If it is in support of it...I'll personally march on the producer's office.

its saying that your sexuality is not changeable, and is not chosen. its on the cw network. in chicago it is on at 4:00 so in the east it would be on at 5:00 i believe.

The former one, actually, so I assume you do not need to worry. Granted that that's an assumption on my part, but I am judging Tyra and her show with another episode that I'd seen which dealt extensively with internalized homophobia.

I notice the whackjob hatepreacher on the video claimed jesus was against this young man.

oddly enough, jesus never speaks out against homosexuality and yet he lived in part under he rule of a group in which homosexuality was conidered normal and healthy (the romans). in the whole of his ministry, he never speaks about homosexuality, and you can tell the whackjob fundementalist chirstians (who by docterine and dogma, actually are the most unchirstan group out there) because they always make claims that the bible contradicts.

Jesus even spoke that the jewish holiness code was not the word of god, but the word of man, and that it doesnt apply to his followers. he said it was derisive and damaging.

the jewish holiness code is most often known by the name 'Leviticus', and contains three of the only four passages of the bible that slam homosexuality (the other being a passage in corienthians). many people claim alot more passages, but those are disputed by actual biblical scholars as being claims made ignorantly of biblical history, and mistranlated language.

for example, the term sodomey did not begin to refer to homosexulity until about 700 years ago when the church changed the definition from 'one who turns their face from god' to 'one who sleeps with a person of the same gender'. the change in definition happened when the church decided they needed to be in control of all sex. before, sex was a privite thing, and after, sex was something the church felt it had authrority over. Very orwellian.
