Duke, the cat in my avatar, has gone missing. :frowning2:

We think he got out through the downstairs toilet window late Sunday evening and we didn't notice he was missing when I shut the window before going to bed. It was only in the morning we noticed his absence, plus uneaten food and unused litter.

He has not been allowed out since we moved here as it's right in the city centre by a busy road so not safe for him. So he doesn't know the area at all.

I have notified the RSPCA, Cats Protection and the four local vets. He has a microchip and I updated the address and reported him missing there too. The new owner of our home is looking out for him (it's the other side of the city, about 2 miles away). I've spoken to the neighbours (first time I have met some of them!) and put up posters. The window he got out through is staying open.

He hasn't been happy here. I think because he can't go out and there are no birds to watch out of the window he was bored, so spent a lot of time under the bed sleeping. I was talking to my sister who works at a cat rescue centre last week about possibly rehoming him. Maybe he made the decision for himself?

Oh no! :frowning2: I hope he comes home Paul. Even if he has to go live with someone else you will know he's safe.

    Duke is back!!! (!)(!)(!)

Christian (my housemate) heard him meowing outside at 4am so went down to let him in and feed him. He seems to be fine. He was under my duvet against my legs when I woke this morning, he's eating quite a lot and wants lots of attention and fuss.

Perhaps he decided that things weren't so bad here after all?

Cat sounds like a teenager :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Happy to hear you have him back. Lost pets is not a pleasant experience.

We are going to try to make his life more interesting and discourage him from spending so much time asleep under my bed.

I bought him a new scratching/climbing toy today which is in the dining room near my desk (I work from home), and he seems to like it. This photo of him on it was taken earlier today.

I've also bought some of his favourite Felix "as good as it looks" food which is a bit of a treat as it's expensive.

One of the pads on the back of a front leg looks a bit red and his claws a bit worn, but that's the only signs of him being outside.

He hasn't used his litter yet and is on his third pouch of food so I suspect he hasn't eaten while away. We will keep an eye on his litter and his eating, but I'm sure he'll be fine in a day or so.
