Default Don't stop believing!

So this past weekend I went to a gay bar in town, and it is the second gay bar I've been to. The final song for the night, Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" was the same one at both bars. I was just curious to see if this happened anywhere else?

It's an awesome song, except that there is no South Detroit! We have East, West, Downtown, and occasionally Northwest and Northeast (at least in news reports), but no south or north (Detroit's a short wide shape, not a square).

Every club I have ever gone to, rather a gay club or straight club, this song has always been played. At this one club I go to they play it as the closing song every Saturday night. Its amazing, and everyone knows its time to go after the song is over.

There's no east side of Chicago, either, but that didn't stop Paper Lace in "The Night Chicago Died".

The 80s dance club here usually ends the night with either "Don't Stop Believin'" or (believe it or not) "We Are the World". Everyone sings along to that one.

Random factoid only I care about. Of the three Top Ten singles on Journey's Escape album, "Don't Stop Believin'" was the least popular. But try getting anyone under the age of 25 to name the other two.

Fair enough...

And thank Rock Band for "Don't stop Believin" being as known amongst the younger crowd as it is. I grew up listening to all sorts of great rock thanks to my young parents, but it seems like anyone even a couple years younger than I am has no clue about Rush or Journey or AC/DC, et cetera, anymore...

On topic, not quite like having the last song at the club be the same thing multiple times in a row, but I've had a number of instances where I'll be flipping through my XM presets in my car, and one station will have a certain song on, then about five minutes later, another station will have that same song.

^ Hey! Rockband didn't release Don't Stop Believin for DLC not until rather recently! Anyone who doesn't know those bands are just not into that type of music (blame Top 40 hits radio stations and such).

I also grew up with great rock and everything actually due to my parents. But I still got into a lot of music on my own as well =P Trust me, there are many kids out there who have great music taste.

...another thing that's surprising - liking Journey being considered "great music taste". Critics HATED Journey while they were together. They were considered slumming dilettantes who were capable of so much more (a couple of the members had been in Santana in the 70s), but now were recording pop/rock radio fodder. Which, come to think of it, was a fairly accurate assessment of the band, but it neglects to mention how GREAT they were at writing catchy pop-rock radio fodder. I've got tons of Journey on the iPod.
