Making a collection of Short Stories based on LGBT themes and i want YOUR input! >:O

Ive been improving my writing alot this past year with all the english courses im taking and seeing as i was a good writer before i thought id take a crack at something more serious for my new project. With that November nananawamwamwo or whatstheface its called coming up i guess now is as good a time as any! (Note: I wont be doing that thing this year, i dont like writing under deadlines.)

My idea was as follows: A collection of short stories based on various LGBT themes. I want to do stories that are either face-value gay, or nothing to do with gay, but actually when you analyze it...yup, gay (X-men movies anyone?) Maybe a good mix of both? I definitly have a goal to make people think here. I was thinking around 10 stories maybe, and i would be in no rush to finish them. I might be 25 by the time i am done them all hah But the goal is something i would feel good enough with to publish.

Back to the "i want your input" part...

Anyone have a theme i could base a story around? It could be something direct like "a coming out story about a teen who everyone knows is gay but himself" or something more indirect like "a story that explores the relations between mother and her son through the symbol of a pink blanket" Go wild. Give me ideas. I will write some

Do some epic Twilight Zone stuff. Like... the kid is gay, but only in his dreams, and his gay alter-ego wants to make him gay in real life but he's afraid to be gay until he realizes the only way to kill the demon inside of him is to admit being gay then he realizes all along he only had to reconcile with his gay dream self... then at the end the gay self winks at the camera DUN DUN DUUNNNNN. Rinse, repeat, and sequel.

No but seriously, I honestly don't have any good ideas. Which is funny, since I'll be writing an LGBT NaNo this year. 'Cept that's about ex-gay camps.

Maybe you could write about a kid who discovers this huge network of gay at his school. :O

Or write about a basilisk.

Can I put in a request for some well-written femmy smut? (Or dudes gettin' it on considering you probably wouldn't want to write about supersexylesbianism.)
I'm not asking for porn without plot, but I think that sex is really quite relevant to our sexuality.

Power Lesbians are very dear to my heart.

Im sure ill do about half and half, or at least a quarter of it carpet-munching. They will most likely be take-no-prisoner super rich and famous lesbians though. They may also go around beating up men for not having vajayjays...just cause they need to show how independent from man they are.

Once i thought of a story line which had someone who could see the future and ended up seeing himself having sex with a man and then he goes through this whole confusion and exploration, he gets really fustrated cause he can't see to get comfortable with being gay and doesn't get why it doesn't work out and such
But in the end he finds out he actually has a gay twin and isn't gay himself.
Not that this is a good idea at all, but i wanted to share it anyways.

No, actually, that could be worked into a great story for my collection. (And its not about graphic lesbian sex or monsters from Harry Potter. )

how about fantasy or supper heroes.like this dude named ex.greg and he doesnt have super powers but hes like ex.batman and theres this scene where hes saving someone from a fire and the fire fighters are there then after he saves the person a fire fighter gets injured and is covered by debris.he saves the man and on the way down from a 15 story building the man cant contain himself and kissees the hero.when they land he thanks him but the hero is shocked and take off say your welcome.then in a later scene that same night they show the hero touching his lips thinking about his sexuality bc he loved the kiss but is confused and is thinking he might be falling in love,the place of this scene is that he is on top of a building watching the fire fighters arriveing at there station and there is greg with a smile. well what you think. i like it bc the hero has a mask and is very fit:b jk. well hope you like just an idea. oh and one more thing the hero and greg start seeing each other more.oh and the hero knows who he is but the hero in his regular identity tries to win gregs heart:0

Hmm, its a bit too broad.

But in seriousville, I dont think ill be using any superhero/lgbt crossover themes in my stories. I read Hero by Perry Moore and i loved it, but i want to stay away from writing on a fad such as superheroes or vampires. They wont be big forever.

Hmm what about a story about a homophobic guy and he enters and alternative reality where everything is backwards and homosexuals are "the normal ones" and being straight is considered wrong then it's like role reversal or you could just do a story set in the past like the 50s when it was illegal

Oooh Carrie i like that idea I might just do the entire story from the perspective of a world that homosexuals are the normal ones. I might pick the 70's for the setting. I dont think id write one about a guy falling into an alternative reality because im not very big on mystic elements in my stories. But i definitely like the concept I think ill try writing this one first <3

Don't go over the top. The most beautiful short stories are usually the ones with unique insight into interpersonal relationships. I'm not going to give you any ideas because I think that in order to have a piece of writing that is truly yours, the idea must be yours either. But just keep it simple and let your own voice shine through.

How about a super burly jock type guy who begins questioning his sexuality because he gets paired with an over the top flamboyant gay guy for a project. Long story short he starts falling for his over the top project buddy, but hates himself for doing so because he thinks being gay is a bad thing. He eventually comes out to himself and to his project buddy, who tries to help him accept his sexuality and winds up falling for him in return. They keep it low key, so as to protect the jock’s reputation as the womanizer at school, but eventually the football team finds out and beats the hell out of the flamboyant kid and cast out the jock, rapidly spreading rumors about him being gay all over the small Christian town.

Fast forward 30 years or so, the flamboyant character is living in a large city now, successful at something stereotypical of gay men. The jock is married to a woman (a lesbian with a similar story to him) and has two children. They reconnect through a chance commercial on television, and meet face to face. They eventually rekindle their feelings for one another. The jock’s wife is happy for him, and she tells him her story (with sexy flashbacks, to please the ladies ). And things work out for the better.

Maybe that would be a better idea for more of a novel, feel free to tweak the idea around though.
