http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070811/ap_on_re_us/gay_funeral;_ylt=Avd.ih This is unreal that God loving people would do something like this.
It is a shame they would do something like that. Not out of discrimination but out of "principle." Whatever.
That's ridiculous and doesn't even make sense. Holding a funeral for a person who told a few lies in his life doesn't mean the church is condoning dishonesty, just as holding a funeral for a gay person doesn't imply the church is condoning homosexuality. And to cancel the funeral that last-minute is just poor taste.
Yeah, it's more than just poor taste...:icon_sad: :icon_sad: It surprises me that the church is not on fire yet:dry:
This story is on the welcome page of AOL. So far 78% side with the Veteran's family. There is a huge number of comments about it.
Because their precious Buy-Bull says that homosexuality is grave sin. (Bible = Buy-Bull, because it's bull and a lot of people still buy it)
People need to stop using the bible and religion in general as an excuse to push there petty, bigoted agenda.
well if you give me a gun and money for a plane ticket..... (sorry that was very poor taste) It just pisses me off when people have such a problem with being human. Humanity would define us all as being equal and of equal rights. Church groups like this make me angry as hell. so, straight people are better then us, simply because they're straight? they deserve to be buried by the church, but of course we're gay so we don't get that right?!?! Gargh I'm all steamed up and angry now. :tantrum: :***: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: NOT HAPPY JAN! (not directed to anyone in particular)
Actually, I got into a debate with my friend over this. It was interesting. I think someone needed to come forward and offer this man a proper funeral. But nope. I'm not surprised.
It's really sad to me that people who claim to be so loving and moral can be so discriminatory and hateful.
As sad as the story is, the publicity it's getting will cause a few churches to think about how they would handle a similar situation, hopefully in a more Christian manner. The pastor and congregation of this bigoted church deserve all the heat that they're getting.
