Default asparagus

if you're not aware, asparagus gives off a certain smell when people who have eaten it urinate, and not everyone can actually smell it. (its a genetic thing)

anyway, i'm not sure whether i can smell it or not because i hate asparagus myself and i dont go around smelling people's pee.

although i'm wondering if i can smell it because i can definitely smell something while its cooking. my grandpa makes it sometimes and i feel like the smell of it is going to kill me, and i don't know if its the asparagus or something he cooks it in (although i think he just fries it in oil)

and if you could post what it smells like to you, that'd be great. it smells like...old boiled cabbage to me mostly.

Asparagus smells pretty bland to me. Actually pretty much all green vegetables smell very bland and neither attractive nor repulsive to me.

And I don't often sniff urine to see if there is a hint of asparagus in it…

Hah well I've never thought about it before, but I really can't differentiate much between cabbage and asparagus and peas and broccoli. They all taste samey and pretty boring, so I've never been able to understand why some people can be repulsed by one green vegetable and adore another.

vegetables taste boring? vegetables taste GREAT. But it must be kind of cool to find them all similar, saves you those "oh... oh no. I really should have put asparagus in that soup like they suggested, rather than cabbage... " moments that precede choking down vile clashing flavours? I don't know...
does any one veggie stand out to you though? pumpkin maybe? THAT tastes pretty darn different

Asparagus smell is about the most pungent smell I can think of. I can't eat much asparagus, it just overpowers. It needs to be used with a light touch.

well i'm sure everyone can smell asparagus. but there is a certain chemical that not everyone can smell and that's what i'm trying to figure out.

with me, the smell alone makes me want to barf and i'm wondering if it's that one chemical or if it's just the natural asparagus smell that doesnt agree with me.
