well i usually keep my hair really short and at most, a bit spikey. i wanna let it grow out a bit, so that it goes more down and forward. i hope this doesnt sound odd, i dont know how to explain it. lol but ive tried to grow it out before and it just looks really messy and not good and it sticks out. any tips would be great!

Short hair will naturally form spiky clumps or a sort of fuzz depending on the length. Once you get a bit of length, try using a flat iron to reduce the volume/body of your hair, which will allow it to sort of lay down easier. Also, a little bit of product such as pomade can give it a little weight and shine if you're going for that glossy emo or shaggy-but-stylish surfer look.

Thick hair is good! just leave it longer, you could always use hair cream??

perhaps when you grow it out, get it thinned. It helps a lot. I have that problem myself.
