from what i made out it sounded like he must have injected something into himself that he hoped would maybe explode. clearly it didnt work as well as he hoped. dont think he will be able to have kids anytime soon hahaha

I'll be curious to see what kind of explosive was used. So far it's all pretty vague on whether it was something dangerous that went of with a whimper insted of a bang, or something that could have never worked in the first place.

What I do know, is that I shouldn't have read some of the comments below the linked article. A few of those qualify as a terrorist attacks on intelligence and sanity

i think the obsession with al-qaeda and osama is a bit silly. Im worried alot of people seem to think they are the only source of terrorism in the world.

As has been said this is just possibly some extremest idiot, maybe there was no connection with al-qaeda. I think we are all becomming too scared of how much power al-qaeda and bin laden have. They don't have alot. Bin Laden is just a figure head. Al-qaeda is just an organisation that claims responsabilty for alot of things to try and give a false impression of its power and reach. In reality many of these events are just extremists doing it off their own backs, and al-qaeda have no involvement. It seems to me that alot of people are too preoccupied with Bin Laden and al-qaeda. Bin Laden is not lex Luthor! Terrorism will not stop if he is gone.

The FBI said initial checks showed the device contained pentaerythritol, the same explosive used by British "shoe-bomber" Richard Reid. He tried to blow up an airliner in 2001 using material hidden in his shoes.

Regardless of whatever the device was, he brought it on the plane and attempted to use it. He failed, and is now completely fucked. End of Story. He's the asshole in this situation, regardless of his race, creed, or intention. And the use of asshole is in its loosest sense (no pun intended) and totally an understatement.
