    - Came a whole lot closer to deciding where I'm going with my life, and I made some very significant progress getting over my insecurities and fears of inadequacy. (Still dealing with a major slip-up toward the end of the year, but it's only gonna help me come back stronger.)

    - Came out of my shell more, and I'm getting much more comfortable being vulnerable and taking risks.

    - Gained a tremendous amount of confidence and assertiveness.

    - Dumped a couple of very toxic and negative people in my life (you know the type, always deeply critical and judgmental of everyone else around them). However, I could've done that a little more gracefully and told them why I shut them out. I did what I needed to do, though. I had to do that if I wanted to keep moving forward--they weren't just holding me back; they were reversing my progress.

    - Started contributing to and blogging on a local political site, where my posts have been really well received.

    - Oh, and I found you guys.

All in all, this has been an exceptionally good year for me! (Sorry if this came across as gushing or bragging. I've just had a really damn hard life--I was really messed up from getting a lot of teasing growing up and never getting help for my mental problems--but things are finally looking up for me for once.)

    I have a few...

-got into graduate school and got a 3.75 GPA my first semester
-realized/admitted to myself that I am not 100% straight and that is okay.
-found a beautiful girl who I adore and started something with her...not quite sure what it is yet, but it is definitely something...

    ----------

That is AWESOME! Never feel bad about realizing that you have had a great year. I know what it is like being in a rough place and finally coming out of it (had similar issues to you from dealing with a lot of rough stuff when I was younger), and it is GREAT to be able to finally see the good things happening in your life when you have worked so hard to overcome the bad. This doesn't come across as bragging at all to me, it comes across as you being proud that you have accomplished so much for yourself this year, and you deserve to be proud of what you have done!

Thanks! I'm so happy to be pulling myself together and going somewhere.

Sweet! I'm probably starting grad school in a couple of years. Right now I'm a Sophomore working toward an undergrad in Computer Science and Mathematics. I'm a little nervous 'bout the grad school thing, but it's a good kind of nervous, and I wouldn't have ever dreamed of going to college at all a few years ago.

And congrats on the girl!
