Belfast manages both, depends on which part you go to, there are cities that beat it in almost every single way, but they don't quite have the charm... well maybe Baghdad does but I haven't been there.

Prettiest would probably have to be Paris, but that's coz I was staying in a really good part of it.
Ugliest would be Ho Chi Minh City. So many motorbikes and the electrical wires were everywhere..

I love San Francisco. Even the rundown areas seem to exude a charm.

The ugliest? It pains me to say so, but Denver. I love the city to death, but it's just not pleasant to look at. In the winter, it's either buried in snow or everything is dead. In the summer, it's often in a drought, and everything is brown. The architecture ranges from boring to ugly, too.

The ugliest has to be Hartford, CT. It's filled with urban decay. I'm not sure what the prettiest city would be though.

Ugliest: Philadelphia, and not the pretty part of town outside the Franklin Institute. I mean the part of town when you turn a corner and suddenly everything is overgrown duplexes and old apartments with broken toys in the yards. *shiver*

Prettiest: Montpelier, VT. It may only take ten minutes to walk cross town, but it is compact, clean, stout, and made of bricks. Just an adorable little city.

I would have to say the ugliest city I have been to is Vancouver, BC. For the prettiest I am going to agree with Lex and go with San Francisco. I have visited San Francisco twice and I am totally in love with it...alot of happy memories there  .

I love Boston. I still think it's an amazingly good looking city, especially at night. All the run down areas even seem nice to me. I want to live there when I'm older. I think Orlando is pretty gross. Well in the summer anyway, because it's all hazy and humid and it makes me claustrophobic.

I was totally thinking San Francisco, and then I was stoked to see I'm not alone.

Ugliest, probably Phoenix or Tucson, AZ. Both really gross cities.

Prettiest I've been to would be downtown Chicago at night.

Ugliest...I dunno. Bismarck, North Dakota was bad. It didn't help that I was there in the middle of winter. And when discussing crappy cities, I have to make the obligatory Council Bluffs, Iowa mention. There really isn't anything pretty in Counciltucky.

Prettiest: Providence, RI, since everyone is saying San Fran...

Ugliest: Probably LA, there's way too much smog. And the mountains in the background are all dry and blah.

This, although once I visit NYC I'm sure I'll think differently.

As far as ugliest cities go, I don't really find anyplace I've ever been to ugly. They all have good parts and bad parts.

Prettiest: San Antonio, Texas. Not the entire city, but downtown is just incredible.

    Ugliest: Houston, Texas. Ugh...
