Since the World Cup is upcoming already, might as well as I need to satisfy my curiousity on this one. I often heard that the German players are labelled as "Panzers" (combat tanks in German?), but why the English "Vikings"? I thought the Scandinavian football teams are supposed to be labelled that one instead? Or, perhaps, England was once owned by Scandinavian people a long long time ago, hence that label? off topic: and on top of that, I noticed that some or half of the fantasy novels I've seen and read, does have some Scandinavian and Old English influence on it. It's just strange... |
