It is both the Chinese and Japanese character for tora, meaning Tiger. As the others said. The current Chinese character for Tiger is probably a simplified version so the one you have shown would be the traditional one, OR current Japanese character.
OMG, it's Tora? 1.) I am obsessed with tigers. I've got about 12 posters on my wall. I own about 10 plushies. I've got calendars, canvasses, I've adopted a tiger through Born Free, everything. 2.) My mother has an antique painting, of the 12 animal spirits with their symbols written in traditional chinese. That is how I picked up on it.
