Words that should be expelled from the english language.

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by prismaticlight, Feb 13, 2010.

  1. One word that really messes with people and has a tendency to make people feel insecure is the word "normal." I see this word brought up a lot when people are trying to figure out their orientation. What is normal is entirely subjective. It's one of these states of being that is entirely an illusion. Instead of asking if it's normal to be gay one should ask if it's natural to be gay.

That is one reason I don't like the word normal.

What about a Normal banana? As opposed to a malformed and rotten banana :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

i don't think normal is subjective.

Normal is what the norm tends to. IE what is the most common state of whatever is being discussed.

In that sense being gay is not normal, because its only a minority that are.

However, i don't see a problem with that. Being 100% normal would make you a rather boring person imo :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

"ain't". It is not a word and should be taken out of the dictionary.

I don't think contractions are in the dictionary. It is a word, it's just not formal.

It is in the dictionary. It says you ain't supposed to use it. :icon_bigg

i have several friends that are completely grossed out by that word, but I've never understood it. I don't find anything unpleasant about, say, a "moist towelette" but my friend visibly shudders when someone mentions them.

If you replaced Prequel with something else, then what on Earth would the song Prequel to the Sequel be called!? xD It'd be a major travesty =P
