He said i was turning fast so i can avoid him and then he said i turn off my lights so he wont be able to see me. And the dumb thing is i was turning off the lights because i was close to the house. And he dint put on the noise so i can hear him.So he wrote me a summons (sp)
One time I got pulled over for "drunk driving" in the middle of nowhere. The cop said I made a "wide left turn". I had been at work for 12 hours, so I had no time to have anything to drink. I insisted he get another marked car before I would get out - mainly cause it was pitch black out and we were in the middle of nowhere and it was like 3 in the morning. Anyway, they made me walk a line and do all kinds of stuff. It was embarrassing and, in my opinion, stupid! No offense to good, honest cops, but sometimes I think they pull people over to have something to do!
I wouldn't have even gotten out of my car. I'd have pulled over and told the officer I wasn't getting out until he had another marked car as wtinal did, or flashed my lights to acknowledge his presence and driven to a lighted, populated area (even if it was only my house.) I'd find it especially fishy if he hadn't used his sirens, on top of the fact that we were in the middle of nowhere at 3 am. I would appologise when I got out of my car, but explain my concerns to him. Hopefully he'd understand. Most cops are nice guys. Also, if you have a cell and it's legal to use them while driving (I believe in NJ it's legal as long as it's a headset) you can call the local police barracks and they'll verify if he's a real officer.
Some cops are pretty weird at times, one cop that used to live here (he moved to Ontario now) shoved a gun in a guys face here and said "DON'T MOVE MOTHERFUC**R" and the usual "You're under arrest". All this because the guy didnt pull over right away. Pretty funny, hm? I think they shipped him a week after that.
Unfortunatly ok455 I don't think there is anything you can do. As far as the cop not using the Siren, that is pretty normal for anytime after sunset. For any driver paying attention, the 40 flashing lights should get your attention, and then if we need to we can bleep the siren once or twice. Most cops I know today do not even use the Siren during the day for traffic stops, we try to only use the Siren when responding code to emergencies (Bank Robber, Man W/Gun, Domestic, etc) I would just go to court and if it is your first infraction, say sorry, and get off with a warning. Most of us are nice, however there are a few crazies, who will pull over any car that passes just for fun.
I used to have a certain respect for law enforcement. USED TO However, my friends and I have all had enough negative encounters with law enforcement jackasses to demonstrate to me that I have absolutely no reason to trust a cop any further than I could throw him. Yeah, some of them are cool and just trying to perform a public service. Then there are the ones that do things like make up charges against you, illegally search your car, and then proceed to destroy the interior while "searching for drugs" (happened to a friend), or the one that somehow doesn't notice great big lights and several cameras and proceeds to go into full tactical mode against "terrorists" (yep, a friend of mine was doing a video production for one of our video classes in post-9/11 America and had several snipers and half of the county's police force preparing to kill him if he sneezed), or the cop that tried to arrest me for driving a "stolen" car (oh, wait, it was MY fucking car, it was February in Michigan, and there was snow on the plate). Taking a turn too fast? That's the hallmark of a cop making up shit to try and bust you for some bigger offense, like drunk driving. Go to court and fight it. Just be careful and don't act like a jackass.
i hate cops too! I had tried to kill myself one a few months back and my mom called 911 so some cops come over, rip the chains off my pants, throw me onto my couch, handcuff me and start to question me. i was rude because i was angry and they start yelling and me and shove me in the police car and they threaten to send me to a bad hospital for mental people instead of a nicer one. i was freaking out. they were sooo rude and mean to me! all i did was attempt to kill myself and they weren't making things any better. then the other night we got broke into and we got back to our house before the cops and then they barely look around and leave because one of the cops was allergic to cats. i live in michigan also. i heard this one guy's car was stolen at gunpoint in his own driveway and when he called the cops they never showed because they were scared because he lives in a very bad neightborhood. i made a point on my website that cops are way more ready to spend their time ticketing people for going 7mph over the speed limit than actually saving people from serious situations. they are also way too cocky. they speed and go across red lights for no reason without having their lights on. they think that they can get away with so much. i hate cops. they are hurting people more than helping it seems.
I was fined for driving without a license the other day. They took my motorbike and I had to pay 3000 pesos ( more or less $100)... it sucked.
I heard the more they pulled someone, the more they get paid. I'm not sure if it's right or not but if so.............SO FREAKING STUPID:bang:
Cops are those people who use their freaking athaurity to abuse people(tho they are realy hot) Well, taht happens to my sister alot, and they race too, because we are Asian, and his face flushed when my sis scream at his freaking face, he deserved that because it was not her fault at all! And another time, a cop decreased the fine for my sister 50% off cuz she was crying so bad in front of him:lol: To some male cops, the women just cry, it only work on some of them But to female cops, we are all doomed *ahh*
I think this is really sound advice, ok455. Although I've never had any negative experiences with the law, cops make me feel slightly uneasy. I'm not sure why, though...
I heard the Judge here is as stuck up as the cops The cop yesterday said he could of arrested me for turning my lights off in front of my house
I would request the Dash Cam to be played at the court appearance, to show the cop was abusing his power. Also file a claim with the on duty Sargent.
My aunt said the same thing about the dash cam. Its funny because he said that i turn away so he wont be able to see me but i used my blinking lights. Im def going to court
