I seriously cannot be bothered to go Not least because i havent done any work Year 11 shall be well boring. And yeah homophobes are great too
Honestly, I feel for all of you who are returning to school right now, unless it's college. I hated high school, and to this day I still think it was a waste of four years of my life. College, however, I found to be some of the best times of my life. Just think, though... You're returning to school soon, and tomorrow, I return to a den of corporate hell for another five days. Make the best of it and it will yield dividends in some form.
Hallelujah! It could be compressed to half the time if the curriculum weren't paced so grindingly slowly, and weren't so full of bullshit. And for me it's retail hell as opposed to corporate hell, and only half time so far. Though I like my job so far. The cash register is kind of fun! As is customer service. (Barnes and Noble)
the thing i hate it they take so long on some of the stuff and some stuff they dont teach you and you get to the exam without knowing it existed!! [believe me, that has happened to me and some of my friends in physics] the curriculum needs to be sorted out people!!
Meh, i dont mind school...i get to hang out with my friends every day...and theres at least one person in each class that i at least get along with so its not too bad...as for the curriculum, in Year 12 our teachers really try to teach us exactly what is in the exam, but that might just be my school...hmmm dunno....And im not finding it too boring cos i got to choose every subject im doing, so i dont mind it... Oh well, i really dont like homowork...in fact im meant to be doing it now, but im not...MY BAD
Secondary school was dull, sixth-form was okay, university is awesome. And it reflects in my results, because the more fun I'm having, and the more content I am, the more my results go up. For example, I've scored 86%, 78%, 66%, 64%, and 59%, all of which I believe are above the university's average. And I should point out that the course I take is in a field that my university specialises in, so the average should be quite decent. I certainly know the first two scores are above average, by around 25% each.
From what I hear schools (at least in the UK) seem to be geared ever more to teaching just what is needed to pass the exams. Schools care more about getting good places in the league tables and high exam pass rates, than about whether their pupils actually have a proper education and understanding of the subjects that is useful for later life. I'm sure if the subjects were explained and explored properly they could be made a lot more interesting and relevant than just being made to memorise the bits that are in the exams. If someone asks a question it should be answered if possible and not brushed off with "you don't need to know that for the exam" or "that's not in the syllabus". I know someone who used to teach Design and Technology for at least 20 years, but left a few years ago because he got frustrated with the ever narrower syllabus, the reduction in practical work, and the drive for exam passes rather than a proper understanding of the subject.
That exact same thing happened to me. Its repulsive. I mean honestly, its my summer "VACATION". Not my summer "read two books, learn all there is to know about the seventeenth century, and then be sure you've taken notes on them all because on the first day of school you get two tests and an essay test". Its kind of nice that they want to make sure we cover all the material.....but still. I want to do fun things with my break. Not boring stuff.
I finish it on October 30th... hehe. However, two months of finals follow and trust me, they are VERY hard.
ughhhhh school! I start on wednesday and I have been up until 4 am every night for the past 10 days trying to finish my AP summer work. I had to read 12 books (2 of which were in spanish, one of which was in french), write 3 essays, take notes on 90 pages of college economics text, and annotate 35 poems, among various and sundry useless assignments that wasted my time compeltely (and i really mean useless things). it is completely my fault that i didnt space it out well, but it has really sucked that i havent been able to enjoy the last 10 days of summer. at least this is my last summer of AP work and im headed to college (YYAYYYY!) next year. im just hoping that i get into my first choice early decision so i can relax for once in my life.....
im tryin to finish my AP English work before the 4th lol. I too procrastinated too long. thankfully im almost done but I still dont wanna go back. There is the trip to London to look forward to I guess but dont make me go! *cries* sigh, I guess this will prepare me for college next year though...
Grr. I hate school. I guess i dont have too much summer work, but going into high school isint exactly fun. Lots of people tell me that high school was a waste of 4 years. Im begining to see their reasoning. I have to go back on the 4th... But on the up side i do get a school issued laptop. Well... I need to stop procrastinating, and start on that essay. Stupid honers classes. Anyway, im tired and rambling. Good night EC.
I still haven't finished my homework!! I'm so doomed:eek: Though I like the fact that I can see my friend everyday but getting up in early morning and studying is not something I enjoy...unfortunately:rolleyes:
I'm so nervous about school. I have really bad social anxiety and I have to move in with roommates I don't know next Monday. Ahhhhh.
high school is definitely not a waste of four years in my opinion, but it can be if you make it so. stay motivated and keep your chin up, hard work in high school will pay off in the end
I enjoy school. This might sound completely unbelieveable, but I'd rather go to school than sit on my ass at home on the holidays homework*? lol
