There are dozens of earthquakes that happen each day. To give you an idea, check out this link. It just so happens that we've had a few "biggies" lately.

All quiet? There have been dozens of earthquakes in California in the past few weeks. They're just so tiny we can't feel them.

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/

Shows all earthquakes worldwide in the past week. Colors are how recent, size of the box is the size of the earthquake.

I think these are still what I would call "echoes" of the Haiti earthquake. Geologists say they're not related, but I have the feeling in some indirect way they are. An earthquake here releases pressure in that area of the crust, but in turn builds pressure elsewhere because of the shift. So, eventually, that pressure releases causing an earthquake in an otherwise unrelated area.

Its been awhile since we've had a period of major natural disasters, Mother nature is stressed. Let her release some tension and all will be well. But in all seriousness, this is freaky. not to mention the freak snowstorms on the eastern seaboard and Florida being at 40's in MARCH. EFFING MARCH, THIS CAN NOT BE

^ Freak Snowstorms? It's Winter. When the winter is without snow, people freak out. When the Winter has too much snow, people freak out.

Either way, it doesn't matter, IF the Earth is heading towards a natural destruction cycle, whether it is caused by humans, or whether it's just completely natural, there wouldn't be anything we can do about it anyway.

Yes, freak snow storms. Especially moreso considering all that cold air moves down South. If Florida, where I am, is able to feel this much chill so late into the year, then there is something wrong.

So they're blaming it on the Illuminati, the US and the Bible?
Excellent... No one traced it back to my secret experimental superweapons project

In all seriousness, as Gaetan said, earthquakes happen all over the world, all the time. Japan has earthquakes all the time without them getting reported like big occurences in our media.
Even though it's rare, sometimes a few serious earthquakes just happen in close succession. And the human mind just tries to fit it into a pattern. That doesn't necessarily mean all patterns are figments of our imagination, but three occurences are hardly a pattern in any statistical sense.

El Nino? Toronto's been positively dry this winter. Cold and dry. Last two winters we had three feet of snow pretty much constantly. This year? No more than half a foot, and that was our heaviest snowfall.

That's preposterous, everybody knows that the simplest answer is never correct. It must be aliens. I'm guessing evil space puppies.

    Moral of the story:
All these "explanations" are clear indications that our brains are trying to make more of the lives that we think are mundane and creating significance out of triviality to keep us excited and alive.

(Disclaimer: the above theory is OBVIOUSLY subjected to error)
