I Wanna Dye!!!

So... recently I found out you can dye hair with Kool-Aid.

Intrigant, non?

Anywhose, I YouTubed the way to do it, bought the Grape Kool-Aid, and got the okay from the parental (she thinks it's for Relay For Life, LoLz).

And now... second thoughts.

My hair's blackish-brown, so purple'd look good in it... I think...

So... thoughts? Comments?

Why not? It's kool-aid so it'll likely wash out easily if it turns out badly. Although dye would last longer on lighter hair streaks so if you're able to bleach a couple streaks and then do it, the result might be more profound.

Yeah. General tips and info wereee...

*Lasts about six weeks (that's more than i expect it to last)
*Lighten the color with lemon juice or vinegar (lemons obviously smell better)
*And that it stains skin REALLY easily. ( I AM PREPARED! I has me some vaseline to guard against stains.)

So I guess I'm gonna... this'll come out interesting to say the least.

have fun, but if your hair's dark it'll just be tinted, rather than a solid color. This is true with ALL temporary dye

also purple and blue don't last as long as most other colors do. 6 wks ususally means 3 or 4

Ha I'm currently in the middle of testing out streaks w/ some bright pink Manic Panic color. Without bleach, though... this may take several tries. Dunno about Kool Aid, though. Worth a shot- just bleach it first- it'll be more intense.

oh i love dying my hair ive never used kool aid because my hair is dark and if i want it a color i want it bold. ive been dying my hair since i was like 9 and im 22 now so..ive been through alot of colors.

purple was my fave. :] have fun.

I dyed my hair purple once!
I didn't do it with Kool Aid, though. I used temporary dye.

I'd be afraid of it smelling like sugar and attracting bees if I used anything sugary. D:
But that's just my intense fear of bugs talking. XD

Purple hair is awesome though, go for it!

Manic panic is one of the WORST brands of '6-8 wk temporary" dye out there. It's really 1-3 DAYS in mine and most experiances. Some people acn get it to go up to 2 weeks. [nt blues tho...]

Yeah, I have to leave out the sugar... they say the flavor of the kool-aid lingers in your hair for a couple of days... LoL. Grape hair may result in me being g-raped.

I'll see if I can get a pick up of the end results!!!! I'm gonna do it tomorrow.... This is exciting-ness.

Hmmm... I'm about to wash out the dye right now. I don't think it came out right though. After making the dye, it was... Green. Which I don't have a real problem with... but I sorta wanted purple?

So I think I might have to try again another time. Oh well.

Hahaha. Sooo... Resurrecting this dead-ol' thread of mine.

So I went and bought some commercial dye this time, and bleached my hair.

I'm keeping it bleached like this for a day or so, then gonna change to purple in time for Relay for Life this weekend.

So I used Splat Lusty Lavender dye. $10 @ Ulta.

I think the bleaching came out pretty cool ((my avatar pic is the way it came out)), even if my sister is pissed that my mom let me do it. Double standards... pfft, if life were fair, Zachary Quinto would be my boyfriend.
