Sometimes I honestly believe the ones that are the most homophobic and constantly talk about "the gays" or "I think he's a queer" or "he's gay" harbor some "gayness" themselves.
I've got two guys in my office, who have no idea that I'm gay, are obsessed with gays. I swear it's all they talk about...one of them I'd really like to whip his ass just once.
I finally told one yesterday, "What is your deal? You realize that most people that constantly talk about other people being gay are probably a little bi-curious themselves. Keep that in mind"
This was in front of a large group of people so that shut that punk for a while.

probably because it's such a noisy minority, or perhaps it's because we live in such a sex driven culture and anything to do with a different type of sex is so... different.

Well to be honest, what you said does have a lot of truth in it. Like I just said in another thread those who constantly talk about gay people or feel awkward around them or whatever are either grappling with same-sex attraction themselves or just don't have very high self esteem/self confidence themselves so they need to push all their insecurities and loathing onto others.

My boss does it, I think, as a way of testing me. He says radical things against gay and lesbian people to get my ire up and see where my pressure points are. Ugh. I feel like if I am around someone who thinks I'm gay but doesn't know that causes them to obsess over the subject and some do that in a phobia-ish way.

My parents say I'm obsessed with gay rights and my gay best friend. I'm not 'obsessed' or obsessed in the homophobic way.
They just dont know yet.

Well, the intelligent answer is that they are insecure in themselves, so they have to push their insecurities onto others. As in, "Well, I'm insecure with myself, so I'm gonna make other people feel like shit just because I do."

The other reason? We're just fucking awesome. It's a proven fact.

We can be as manly or girly as we want, and no body will say anything. We can be ourselves. But if a straight guy wanted to learn how to sew(or anything else that's typically a girl thing) his friends would call him gay. This is why I love being gay.
