Speech I made

Before the UK General Election, my school held mock elections. I stood as the leader of the Green Party. The day before voting, there was a hustings session in the morning Chapel period. Some of the speeches were dotted with humour, and the fictional Socialist Patriots' Party's leader provided a Hitler-esque speech.

Mine went as follows, and ironically enough the deputy of my school insinuated it was homophobic. I almost got into quite a bit of trouble for it.

Interestingly enough however, this speech allowed me to win 6 seats. I was only beaten by the Socialist Paitriots' Party, which got 8. The three main parties recieved thus: Labour, 2, Conservatives, 4 Liberal Democrats, 5.

Gentlemen,
I’ll make no bones about it: environment is a fundamental issue for us. However, the Green Party is far beyond single-issue politics. We want to encourage a happier, gayer Britain, and we feel that this is reflected in the fact that the Green Party camp is growing. Let’s have no backdoor tactics, we do want to be as transparent and open as possible. A vote for us is not only a vote for the earth, but also a vote for liberty, a vote for equality and ultimately a vote for social justice in everyday lives. Quite frankly, the other parties’ policies are strange and queer, with no substantial merit. You have a choice: to continue having a government that takes pleasure in blowing hot air and destroying expectations, or us, a party that is full in the face and fabulous.

It was said that I would make young gay students uncomfortable. (I attend an all boys' school)

Err i dont think that would. =/ I don't see anything homophobic about it tbh.
