So, what languages do you speak, study, or aspire to learn?

I remade the thread because the old one died months ago, and people might want to change their vote. Also, I added more to the thread.

The last three (before Other) options are supposed to be generalized.

I already know how to speak English (obviously) but I also chose the option "Other" because I am learning Ojibwe at the moment.

How dare you entitle this thread "lingvoj" and not include Esperanto! For shame!

I speak English, and I learned German in high school and also a little in college. I never really have a chance to speak it with anyone though, and I am afraid I will forget.

I was going to start Japanese soon, but I dropped the class in favor of a different class.

    I speak only English fluently.

I will start French when school starts again, if I got in, which I should because I have seniority.

I am now studying Portuguese because I like how it sounds a bit Slavic, and I will get the grammar easily because I know advanced Spanish grammar.

I checked "Other" because I have studied the majority on the list, but am not anymore so I did that..just so it doesn't look like I spammed the voting. Also, I will probably end up switching to another language eventually..

Other than English, I'm studying Japanese (I'm actually studying it right at this moment, ironically enough :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: *puts pencil down to type more easily*). I had Spanish in high school, but most of the vocabulary has left me. I hope to study Latin and German at some point in the future, though.

Okay let me start ... I know English, of course, and I've been studying French for years. I also study Italian at university. I have also taken classes in Spanish and German. Besides that, I plan on studying either Latin or Chinese next semester. And in the future, I think I'll try Japanese.

English is my native language, I studied Irish and French at school, and did 3 semesters of Japanese at college.

That's before we get into programming languages

My first is English. I'm advanced in French but not fluent. I have studied or am trying to learn Spanish, French, Hindi, Tagalog, and Gujarati.

Spanish is my first language followed by English. Those to I use on a daily basis. Then I learned some German, French and Russian from some foreign exchange kids. Then my anime watching has lead me to learn some Japanese phrases and better understand the language.

Beyond English, I have comprehensive understanding of Ancient Greek and Latin. I have studied modern Greek, German, Chinese, and Italian. Everything except Chinese was all part of my Classics degree... the only problem, languages aren't actually my thing...

Native Spanish speaker here. I've studied English since kindergarten so I like to think I'm more or less fluent, but I lack the level of proficiency that is only acquired by interacting face-to-face with native speakers on a regular basis. I learned some French in high school and after a one-year hiatus I took it up again a couple of months ago, but my level still resembles that of a caveman . I learned Latin during the first three years of high school as well, but I've forgotten most of it by now. Memorizing declensions was a nightmare haha.

    English is my native language.
Since I'm Canadian I studied French in school, all the way up until grade 12. But my French is terrible - I can understand what some people are saying, but to speak it I really have to think. And now when I try to speak it half the words come out as Chinese.

Since last September I've started studying Mandarin and written Chinese intensively, and right now I'm in China studying. Despite taking French all the way from Grade 5-12, my Chinese is already much better in grammar, speaking, listening, and just about everything except for vocab.
