Help me out with a project

i have this project i have to do for my art and soundscape class, what i'm trying to do is compile sound effects that i can play to try and get people to feel certain emotions.

so tell me what sounds make you feel happy, sad, afraid, or angry. mostly happy and sad because i had an easier time with fear and anger. the more abstract the sound the better; for example, i've got an alarm clock and car horns for anger, and i have an owl hooting and a squeaky door for fear, stuff like that. songs and music are probably a bit too structured to use in this context.

i need as many different sounds as possible in every category, but especially happiness and sadness, so anything you think up, jot it down here. many thanks.

  2. Sadness:

Rain (even if it is kinda cliche)

The sounds of a playground swing swinging (with nobody on it)

Someones boots/high heels walking on a concrete floor (probably with lots of echo or reverb)

When kids attach baseball cars to their bicycle wheel and it creates that really odd sound.

not really for me now but when I was younger

    wind howling
    thunder
    creaking stairs/doors
    screaming

    Happy:
    waves crashing
    birds chirping
like the slide whistles they used in old cartoons when someone falls

i'm an audial synaesthesiac, so certain sounds make all the nerves in my brain sizzle with pleasure... Might not be useful to you, so ignore if you like, but anyways... Examples:

Charcoal pencils being used on thick and coarse art paper
    Finger nails being filed
Thick paper (usually more than one sheet unless it's some of the above mentioned coarse art paper) being cut by very sharp (and preferably heavy) fabric scissors
Stubble being shaven with an old style strop-razor

there are probably dozens more but that's what i can think of off hand.

I agree with fire crackling for happy. Or stories being read with a certain voice that remind me of being a kid. Sound of a tea pot boiling. Sound of cheering (for your teams side).

Songs with minor keys, or songs with violins for sad. I find sad harder to come up with. Guess that's good.

The crackling of bacon cooking makes me happy. And I don't know why but doors creaking at night kinda frightens me.

    Fear:
The sound of a ticking clock steadily increasing in pace until it is going far faster than normal--and then it stops. Then a heavy door is opened (the kind with the push handle) followed by heavy footsteps and a baby crying...

    Happy:
Carnival games, buzzers dinging casino type noises coupled with muffled laughter and friendly (higher pitched) conversations.

    Sad:
Driving in the rain with the windshield wipers going coupled with a depressing piano arrangement. Violin is also pretty depressing...

Happy: The sound of thunder, lightning, havy rain.
    Sad: Church Hymns
Fear: Howling wind in winter, rattling breath, owl shrieks.
