    Nice to know it can be done, but unfortunately, there is still one burning in Alaska and has been since sometime in the 50's. Just follows the coal veins and keeps cooking along.

    A few people
    just flush the entire mine with some carbon dioxide or nitrogen, and you'll just extinguish the fire, however either youll have to filter out CO2 from the atmosphere or make some more which will flip out many activists and the such, but still it would be much better than waiting another 100 years for another one of those fires dumping tons of CO2 into the atmosphere

    And the people of Beijing were wondering why their Air is so filthy and smoggy? Well hopefully this'll help clear up some of it.

    oh my goodness, that sucks major! 90,000 tons (most of it probably carbon) that's insane pollution.. coal is so unreliable and primitive, we have electric cars and renewable energy Beijing, get with the times!
