So mini background info: I work in a bookstore. Over the past 2 weeks ive had a ton of teenaged/Young adult aged kids come in asking for Luna by Julie Anne Peters. If you dont know what that is, its a YA novel about a MTF teen coming out. Its a very powerful novel, and amazingly written. The best part is, its for a college class. When a few kids came in asking for it, I got really excited and told them how much I loved it, but they looked a little freaked when I said it was about a "trans teen". I really hope the class they're taking opens their eyes. ANd I really want to hug the teacher that assigned it
*doeshappydance* I'm happy for whoever gets to read it in that class! I haven't read it personally, but I love the idea about a class assigning it.
I. Fucking. Love. Julie Anne Peters. O__O I've read like... almost everything of hers. Which is weird since most of it is lesbian romance and I'm kind of a guy, but still! Luna about made me cry, it was so powerful. The first thing of hers I read was By the Time You Read This, I'll Be Dead which strays from the LGBT theme into more of a suicidal teen theme, but it got me hooked on her stories. Anyways, not to stray from the main topic... but love love love love love.
