Default Friends and gender

There's a stereotype that gay men are mainly friends with women (dunno if a similar stereotype is true for lesbians). It's certainly true in my case, and I was curious to see what gender people's friends mainly are.

---------- Post added 18th Nov 2010 at 09:04 PM ----------

Tried to create a poll for this, and failed utterly.

Hm.... For me it's true....
Mainly women as friends or other gay men. Interesting though there's one straight male friend. He's also the first one I came out to.... He's jealous, because I get to work with some many beautiful women. Yes, it's my luck in life to be surrounded by beautiful women, hmpf (but thank god, there are 2-3 cute guys, too)

The majority of my friends have always been other gay men; never really had any women friends at all, so the stereotype definitely doesn't fit me.

I would say it's about even for me. But I generally know more females than males.

My friends have been predominately straight and gay men. But at work, I tend to socialize mostly with women, just because that's who I'm working with most of the time. Still, I greatly prefer the company of men. There's only a select handful of women I hang out with that don't get on my nerves. One on one they're fine, but put them in a group and gah - overload.

But I think that relates back to being transgendered, being in a group of women makes me extremely uncomfortable for the gender-related peer pressure alone. In a group of girls, it becomes much more obvious that I'm not like them.

In high school, most of my friends were female, just because that's how things worked out; that was the group of friends I just happened to fall in to. By senior year, though, I was starting to catch on to the fact that I preferred the company of men in both romantic and social situations. Now that I'm in college, most of my friends are men, both straight and gay. There are a few females I'm friends with, one of which I'm kind of close to, but the fact is that I have more female friends than male friends. Most of the females I'm friends with aren't all that feminine, too, which might have something to do with why I enjoy their company.

The majority of my friends are women and feminine gay boys. My best friend however is a straight guy and has been the most supportive of them all. Which shocked me because most of the straight guys im around (and this may be true for alot of gay males) but most straight guys think I want them. Which is so so far from the truth.
