    Where, on the spectrum on the poll provided, do you consider yourself to be politically?
    How would you desrcibe yourself politically? (e.g. left wing, socialist, free marketeer, liberal, communist, libertarian etc etc etc)
    Who have you voted for in past and who would you vote for if you had the chance today?
    Also, take this test if you have a bit of spare time and show us your result (may not be accurate; just a bit of fun)! :slight_smile:

    I voted for Far Far Left in the poll.

    I would describe myself as either:
    Anarchist,
    Anarcho-communist,
    Libertarian Communist,
    Liberal Communist,
    Communist,
    or
    Direct Democratic Voluntarist :grin:

    In 2008 I voted for the Labour Party for the Local Elections and UKIP for the EU Election (United Kingdom). I am never going to vote again as I am against it. I didnt vote in the 2010 UK General Election.

    Anarchy is stupid. I don't know why people support it. Without government we will be nothing. Do you think we will have thriving metropolitan areas, technology, money, easily-accessible basic needs for living without government? No. There would be no cities, no technology, no money (obviously) and you'd have to work very hard for food, clothing, shelter and in a lot of places water.

    Sorry if I offend any anarchist. But seriously, every person I know who claimed to be an anarchist I asked them, "Do want that phone you have?" They will say yes. Without government, you wouldn't be able to have the mass amounts of companies that have the technology to mine the metals that go to factory upon factory in multiple different countries then be shipped across the ocean to where you live, where you would buy it.

    Unless you really want to live in a hunter and gatherer society, without any kind of tribal/traditional government (which almost every hunter and gatherer society has) you're not an anarchist.

    Ghandi is the person closest to me, but I am more left. And I think a little bit more libertarian too.

    I would just suggest that you go and read up on what anarchism is before you comment on it. Because your comments expose that you dont understand what anarchism is. Anarchism is probably the most misunderstood ideology in the history of the world (with the possible exception of fascism).

    If you are interested in learning more about anarchism, I suggest you start on these links to begin with:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchist_communism
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarcho-syndicalism

    And once you've looked at these, and if you want to know more, just ask me and I may provide you with some more links or I will probably create a question thread particulary for answering questions people have about anarchism. I wasnt intending to discuss anarchism on this forum but I am always open to questions from half-informed anarcho-newbs (:wink:).

    Your welcome :slight_smile:

    (oh and, for the record, I dont consider anarcho-capitalism to be anarchism or to be able to actually work in any way at all. Anarcho-capitalism is very popular in the US, as I understand it. I am not an anarcho-capitalist.)

    A moderately conservative liberal. If it's one word, liberal. But more The Economist than Nancy Pelosi.

    I consider myself a Centrist if I had to put a label on it.

    I've always been very hesitant about putting a label on where I am on the political spectrum. I tend to find that those who identify with a certain ideology are blind-sighted to following certain beliefs, and that they follow one another like sheep when the issue is something they don't necessarily care about.

    That's not to say everybody does, but in political discussions I have seen some people just go along with what they consider the left/right wing view of a certain issue is, despite the fact that individual person couldn't give a shit about the issue in question. I'd much rather have my own opinion (or lack thereof) than believe in something simply because that's what other people who share my ideology believe.

    Anarchy =/= Anarchist-communism
    Anarchy =/= Anarchio-syndicalism
    Anarchy = Anarchy
    Anarchy = Lack of government

    I said Anarchy was stupid. Not Anarchy-communism, or anarchio-syndicalism, but Anarchy.

    You're welcome.

    I tend to be center-left, mostly for the reasons stated above. I do tend to have some pretty conservative friends, though, so despite being a moderate I get labeled as the token lib.

    I don't know why that keeps happening.

    Its the same thing. Like I said you should read up on it if you want to comment on anarchism. That said, If you want to go on continuing defining it as a different thing then be my guest because I am aware that "anarchy" can also simply mean "chaos" in the minds of many many people.

    So yeah, thanks.

    Oh and I am being genuinely nice when I say "thanks" and "your welcome", not being sarcastic, just for the record.

    No it's not the same thing. Kind of like how a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square. Just because they have common things, that doesn't mean they're completely the same. You're saying they're the same thing just because they have similar names and very few similar characteristics.

    Is a sunflower seed the same as a sunflower? No. One's a seed, ones a flower. Is Anarchy the same as Anarchio-syndicalism? No. One's complete lack of government with no economy and one is limited socialist government and strong socialist economy. Huge difference between no government and limited government. Even bigger one between no economy and strong socialist economy.

    Please read up on anarchism if you want to continue having this discussion with me as it is rather fustrating when someone who is clearly a novice -with very little knowledge indeed- in a subject tells you that you're wrong about the particular subject when you have studied it for years.

    I understand what you are saying. Anarchy has different definitions which are sometimes hard to pin down completely.

    As I said, I am willing to answer any questions you have about it. I suggest you either make a different thread or simply send me a few Visitor Messages as I dont want this to clog up this thread. I wont repond to you again on this thread. I suggest you read the links first.

    Do you believe that Israel should be allowed to exist at all?

    No, you're wrong. You do not understand that there is a difference between pure anarchy, which is what I was talking about, and modified anarchy.

    According to the test I am very close to the center. Very slightly to the left and ever so slightly towards authoritarian. Although that's all according to the test. Honestly though I always considered myself more libertarian then authoritarian but that's what the test gave me.
