Default Tattoos - Attractive or Unattractive?

Now, I know that Shebbs made a thread about this a while ago but its pretty old now, it hasnt got a poll and its mostly relating to her specifically, so yeah.

Do you find tattoos attractive or unattractive? Do their size and location make a lot of difference? Do you approve of tattoos in general? If you've got a tattoo, what is it of? If you havent got a tattoo, what type would you get if you had to?

I was thinking of getting a tattoo of something like this or this or this or maybe even this.
What do you guys think is the best one out of the four and would you reccommend any other tattoo ideas? Thanks

It totally depends on size and location for me. Anything big and obvious is a bit unattractive imo but if it's small and discrete it can actually look quite hot. I don't think i'd ever get one myself (couldn't take the pain) but of the four there the black rose is my favourite.

I find tattoos extremely hot, but the subject of the tattoos matters a lot to me as far as aesthetics goes. Like, if you have a Daffy Duck on your bicep or something, I'll probably think that looks sort of dumb, but if you have a full yakuza-style Japanese sleeve, I'll probably try to get you into bed.

Overall, I think cartoon tattoos are ugly, I think "tramp stamps" are trashy, I think kanji symbols look sort of silly on white kids (but I still like them) and I think any tattoo that can't be hidden in a corporate environment is either punk-ballsy or boneheaded, depending on the individual. Tattoos on the hands or face scream to me, "I will be working in fast food the rest of my life." Tattoos of people's names (that are not family or dead) say to me, "I make bad life choices."

I've got one tattoo, and it's a tribal hawk flying into a spiral sun between my shoulderblades that I designed myself in high school (I was an art kid). It's easily hidden, but I can show it off in a club shirt, a dress, or a swimsuit. Everyone who has seen it loves it so far.

To add on to this tattoo at the beginning of the year, I want to put Latin script across the top of each shoulderblade that says Nulli dei, nulli domini. It's an old French Revolution motto which means, "No Gods, No Masters" that has been taken up by the anarchist movement.

Out of the tattoos you picked, I really like the anarchist symbol/sickle combo best.

I don't care whether someone has them or not.

Although, what kind of tattoo they have can be unattractive or attractive. If they have a peace sign, I'd like that. But if they had KKK on their arm, I wouldn't like that.

I plan to get one myself.

I think they're very unattractive, especially in areas that can't be normally covered up. Tattoos with different colors are more unattractive than tattoos that are just black ink though.

On some guys, they are. Take Pantera's Phil Anselmo for example.

It honestly depends on the tattoo and the person. Overall, I think I find moderation the most attractive. (not covering your arm, or having too many; and I prefer smaller to medium tattoos over extremely large ones.)

If I were to get one, it would probably be the Scorpio symbol, or something like that. Just a small, simple black one.

Honestly I find them unattractive; however that's just my type. I don't have anything against anyone getting a tattoo, it's up to them. It's just not my thing personally.

The ones I like are small, "different", and hold some sort of meaning to the wearer. Getting your entire arm done (for instance) just looks complicated to me. If you like it, hey, I'm the last to say you shouldn't. But I'm personally not a fan.

The one thing I don't get are people who keep getting tattoos because (as they say) "I'm bored with my body." If you get bored with your body, why would you do something permanent to it? Won't you just eventually get bored with that, too? Why not henna tattoos, or temporary tattoos, or body paint?

>>>if you have a Daffy Duck on your bicep or something, I'll probably think that looks sort of dumb...

I'd totally go to bed with somebody with a Daffy Duck tattoo. Or, better yet, a Gogo Dodo tattoo.

Exactly as Lex said. I don't find large tattoos to be attractive. Nor ones that are rather blase in the thought process. However, tattoos with meaning hold a lot of interest to me. My friend Angela has a small tattoo from a piece of cover art from her favorite band (it's about the size of a half-dollar) on her wrist. She listened to the music hundreds of times and has been to more concerts than I can count. The music holds a lot to her so the tattoo makes sense. Similarly, my sister has an edelweiss for her exchange year in Switzerland. I also know a guy with a sleeve, and it isn't really that beautiful, meaningful, and he did it for shock factor.

IT depends on the place and location for sure. I mean a tattoo around your neck, or say on your hands, could keep you from being hired at a business. But at the same time, ones on your back, stomach or upper arms wouldn't necessarily be horrid...

No Offense but I don't really understand why anyone would get a tattoo i don't really care for them i don't see anything nice about tattoos. One or two decent size meaningful tattoos are fine depending on location. but when you have sleeves and neck and chest pieces and look like a walking comic book its a huge turn off.Now the way everyone is running getting tattoos these days its rare seeing someone who doesn't have any tattoos. For me i don't want any tattoos at all

I will never get one myself. I don't like needles, and I wouldnt want a tattoo I am stuck with for life.

Also, if you are not a descendent of a maoi warrior, do not get a maoi tribal armband! I get so annoyed when you see people who clearly are not apart of a culture or ethnicity getting the ethnic and cultural tattoos of that culture.

I understand chinese or japanese symbols to a point, but I cringe when I see a fat white trash peice of shit with a shaved head and a tribal armband.

I honestly don't mind if someone has one (I won't think any more or less of you), but I personally would never get one, and I don't think it's very attractive when I'm looking at guys.

tattoos that look like an origanal peice of art or that mean something are very sexy to me....but trible bands and something genareic are and extream turn off. i hae praying hands inside of a cross on my arm as a sign of my religon. I also want a samurai worrior with his sword drawn on my said and maybe a dragon on the other side (set to look as if they are fighting each other).

The samurai i want because its the ultimate worrior and in life you will always have to fight something wether its in a ring or fighting to have a good life. I would get the dragon as a way of showing the battle thats always going on inside me (i was born in the year of the dragon).
