That's really awesome, pretty much sums up my feelings about being a "two spirit" in a nutshell. Unless you're born somewhere towards the middle of the gender binary, you have no idea how strongly ingrained in our society the role differentiations between male and female are, and the punishments for bucking them are often severe.
I believe it. I mostly fit into my determined gender role, other than being into girls and a few assorted "quirks". I can't imagine what it's like to truly be in-between, but what this article said about being an individual and not a zero, it struck me as the ideal I also hold dear to my own heart. Not just about gender, but about mental illness, sexuality, race, class, creed....you name it.
