This is the email I just got:

Anyone else tired of getting this kind of misguided, bigoted bullshit in their inbox? I almost sent back an email to the sender telling them I don't CARE whether my stamps have Arabic on them or not, but then decided not to even bother. Knowing the sender, it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Since when does being patriotic mean going out of your way to be an Islamophobic racist? If that's the new definition of patriotism, I'm not buying in.

This is extremely disconcerting. But I think that in my own experience, I have met many "provincial" people that live within the bubble of their own community and Christianity and they are not aware that there is any alternative culture.

So wait... is there actually a new Muslim stamp or not?

I couldn't tell because to me it seems like one of those generic anti-something chain letters that fill even my inbox these days (and I never get emails).

If so, I'll buy it just to piss some people off. I think it is cool that they get one, after all Muslim-Americans get mail too you know.

Regardless of whether it's true or not, the fact that it's become socially acceptable to forward emails like this is pretty appalling to me.

I don't know if the government should really be celebrating any religious holiday with stamps or coins...

Fintan - So no Christmas themed stamps? No hanakuh (sp?) stamps? No easter bunny coins? All religious in some way, except the bunny one.
    I see it now,
"Hello Mr. Obama, here are the new stamps and coins for your approval"
"Christmas? Blah! Who enjoys trees? Send it to the furnace! Hanakuh? Piss off, nobody wants to light you candles! Oh hello Mr Bunny! Keep this one, Bunnies need recognition, yo!"

    And now I look retarded.

But seriously, why does it matter? It's a freakin' stamp you're pretty likely to dispose of anyway.

This isn't anything new. Back in World War I, they were calling German measles the "liberty measles." And everyone here can recall "freedom fries."

No. I don't think the state should be putting religious symbols on stamps or coins. And the Easter Bunny is a religious symbol.

Well I've been trying to get a stamp to celebrate the repeal of prohibition for years but my petitions fall on deaf ears.

well considering the fact that some idiots are still buying BS that Obama was not born in America, and is a Muslim (which frankly I wouldn't care if he was Muslim-American anyways), and is about to bring socialism into the country, I'm not surprised that some f***ing morons are spreading that kind of stupidity, but it still makes me angry.
Oh well, whatever. These days there are so many things that piss me off I rarely even watch news these days :/

You would typically expect something of...more intelligence when you see a veteran.

"O Slimy Bin Rotten is a fag and his mother and wives are crack head whores."
"Every day I take an O Slimy Bin Rotten and wipe it with a koran."
"When Muslims pray, it looks like they are sending farts to Alla The Pig and FARTING in the faces of their infidel comrades to the rear."

I envy the thirteen year old who's getting rich writing and selling these things.
