I went to a church to do volunteer work with friends and this was the flag they had up: I figured it was so awesome it deserved its own thread on the forum. This was awhile ago, but I just found the picture of it again, so I figured I would show you all that awesome religious people do exist. :eusa_clap Didn't think you'd see this in Ohio, now, did you? Anyone have similar stories?
Cool I doubt I'll see any synagogues (the jewish place thingie) doing this... I'm pretty distant from religion anyway. But I'm glad people are being more tolerant!
You'd guess right. I always thought that Jewish people were more liberal towards homosexuality, besides the more orthodox ones. But I am biased. I've only met like 3 Jewish people, and they were all liberals and said their synagogues were too. @_@ But now that I think about it..they probably all went to the same one...
You're right. Reform Judaism is generally accepting of LGBT rights and most reform Jews are pretty liberal. I'm Jewish.
Yes I seen the rainbow flag on churches such as the MMC churches. I been to one and it was interesting.
that's so cool! i myself am a UU (a Unitarian Universalist). I've always wanted to try other churches and religions who are liberal to see what they're like.....
Yeah, most of the mainstream Protestant churches in Toronto have the rainbow flag on their signs as a notice that they are accepting. Also, the Anglican/Episcopalian church is currently deliberating Gay Marriages in Canada and the US; and the Presbyterian Church in the United States is CURRENTLY voting to permit Gays to become Ministers (of 173 voters, its 55 to 41, for Gay Ministers, as of March 2nd).
Anglican/Episcopalian Openly Gay Bishop of New Hampshire participates in the It Gets Better Campaign. He currently resides in the Cathedral House with his partner, btw.
There was a church out in Orange County (Southern California) that had a similar message on their light box. Made me smile every time I drove past it on the way home from my lil' brother's place. I think that a lot more people are becoming more tolerant since they are more than likely getting to know more LGBT persons.
