Hey Newbie Here - Empty Closets - A safe online community for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered people coming out

I'm not quite sure of how to make my way around this site yet, but I do like it very much.

I've got a few questions:

What do you have to do to be a "full member"?
What's the difference between such members?
How do you add friends?
Can you search for specific people?

Welcome!

To be a full member you have to have a certain amount of posts, forgot how much though.

Full members can go in to chatroom, and I think you can PM people.

To add someone you go to their profiles, & go on connect or something.

Theres a member list but, you can't sarch for specific people only by name I think.

50 posts. They shouldn't be small, useless answers like "I agree" or something. Just be yourself and join in and 50 will fly by before you know it.

Also, you have to be here for at least two weeks before you can apply. And be sure to post in a variety of threads and sub-forums. For example, check out Support and Advice or the anonymous section if you find that you've only been really posting in Fun and Games.

1. You can apply for full member status once you have been a member for at least two weeks and have posted at least 50 posts. Though TheDarkerPoet was right when they said that your posts should be in a variety of threads and subsections, you don't have to post in the advice area, by any means. Nazo had it right when he said to just be yourself and that part will come easily, though do make sure your replies do have a modicum of substance to them (as long as it's clear you aren't posting just for the sake of increasing your post count, you'll be fine).

2. As a regular member, you have access to all of the public areas of the site that are visible to everyone. Once you are promoted to full member, you get access to the more private parts of the site, like the Chat Room and the ability to send private messages to other members. You can, however, send private messages to members of the staff while still a regular member, in case you ever need to bring our attention to anything or ask us for help.

3. You add friends by going to a person's public profile and clicking the "Befriend [member]" link at the bottom of the "friends" box on the right side of the page.

4. I myself am not sure about the answer to this myself. I'll ask the other staff.

You most certainly can search for people, by going to Members List (to navigation bar) > Search > Advanced Search

You can search for specific users by their user name. People's real full names are not supposed to be on here, so of course you can't search for them, if you were meaning to search for people you know in real life. If you know someone else who posts here, you will need to get their user name in order to find them.
