So this year, I am participating in the Day of Silence for the first time. Our school has done it for a few years now I believe. I figure it should be interesting. Anyone else participating/participated?

  3. Nope! I'm doing "break the silence" instead where a ton of people from around the state march to the capital building from the local university in order to end the silence. I'm totally psyched! I think it's going to be really intense with so many LGBT people and allies in one place.

the 15th is a inservice for us, so the campus is closed. we are doing it next week. Just did a interview with the campus newspaper about it, and we have all our events ready to go for next week, when we will be doing our push for awareness of the event, which we are doing on the 22nd, since the students will be here for it.

we are setting up flags and banners in the courtyard tuesday afternoon, selling wrist bands weds and thursday, then pride panal on friday.

Totally doing it. I have my clipboard packed and I'm trying to decide whether or not to do the duct tape thing this year.

It's my birthday on the 15th. Great.
I'm just going to be at home studying all day anyway.
I'm going to participate next year, though.

    That sounds interesting.
I get my 18th on Easter day next year.

I'm not really out yet, so it'd be weird just walking around the house in silence, ignoring my parents. But I admire what your friend is doing.

I participated in our school's day of silence and it went great! There were a lot of people wearing shirts and the rainbow ribbons that were being handed out in the main office.
It was great. I went the whole day without speaking (except for one time that I slipped up). But it was great, I ended up giving away all my rainbow cookies and people enjoyed them.
Now I'm going to the rally with a friend and I am really excited!!

Once again I participated this year and the best part was at lunchtime when my mom usually calls me, she texted me saying "I know you're doing the Day of Silence so I'm texting you instead of calling. How's your day?" That just made me soooo happy because she knows all about it and I feel like by her texting me instead of calling that she really does accept me for who I am and supports me. Best day everrrrr XD

I wasn't at school, I was at home. Or else I would have.

My friends have bets on when I'll talk today.

I have three times. I finally just duct taped my mouth shut. XD

I did it up until last block of the day, when I watched the step team perform and cheered for my friend who's on it.

Myself and a small group of friends of mine were the only ones who participated at my school. Most people didn't know about it, otherwise I'm sure we would have had a few others join in as well. We got a few rude comments, but other than that it went pretty well, and the teachers didn't mind either. I missed out on presenting a project in class though, because both myself and my partner were silent.

This year was the second time my school did it, and there were definitely a lot more than there were last year. I didn't do it myself, because I don't feel confident enough yet, but I will next year.
